like how much goes to waste.....whats better 23g or 55g ?
cuz I have ON whey protein that has 23g protein that cost $14.99 but I was thinking of buying ON Pro Complex whey protein that has 55gs of protein that cost like $30.00.....is the $15 extra worth it?

I guess I am confused. Is it 23g per serving and 55g per serving? I guess the real question is how many servings per container. Thus how many protein grams per container. Then take that and divide it by the price and you get protein grams per $1. Which ever one is higher is the better deal.

You can always do 2 scoops of ON 100% whey, I do it in the morning.

Some studies say that 30g is the optimal amount. But remember that not all proteins absorb equally, whey is said to absorb at 100% but I doubt that, there are no scientific proof ... eggs absorb at a 86% rate.

Hydrochloric acid is one of the most important parts of protein absorption, if you get gas or intestinal discomfort from the intake of more than 30g of protein you should supplement with Hydrochloric acid.

As for the Pro Complex it has Egg Albumen (Egg whites), thats the only difference I see. And you need 2 scoops to make that 55g.

Where'd you find ON's Whey protein for $14.99? Is it the 5lb container?

I never trust any protein powder to really have as much usable protein as it says, I just dont believe it digests as good as real food. So I would eat 40-50 grams from food, and if you are using a protein powder for a meal use 50-75grams.

I'm saying if I take the one with 55gs a serving and like 20g just go to waste then aint it the same as the one with 23gs...so why pay more if my body cant take more protein
u know what I mean?

i remember reading in muscle and fitness its 50-60 grams of protein per serving is the max absorbed.

I recommend that you do not use Muscle and Fitness as a source of knowledge....

The ON Whey Protein is exactly that, Whey protein which is fast absorbing. Its to my understanding that the complex is a blend of whey, egg, and casein protein so together would absorb at a relatively slower rate than just whey so would be ok to consume at anytime during the day not just post workout. So in your 55 grams, you are getting some % of whey which will absorb immediately and some % of the egg and casein which will be absorbed later.

A chicken breast has approximately 22-25grammes of protein.

I usually have two chicken breasts in a meal.
