how to get into collleege

Danny, of course you can get into college. There are a few steps you can take if you aren't doing well in HS right now, but it will require that you buckle down on the academics.

Consider community college courses over the summer, as well as maybe community college as the first step outside of graduating high school. It's a great way to save money, getting those gen ed classes out of the way, and the courses are not as difficult as in most university level colleges. Then, provided you do well in CC, transfer to a university.

fuck. o well. theres other things i could do in life withot college
yes, but college opens a lot more doors for you. Even if you do mediocre in college academics-wise, it'll really grow you up.

do u think my exracurrcular activites will help me
All of your extracurriculars are sports, so unless they land you a scholarship (which you absolutely should not rely on), then they will do little to help you unless you diversify them with some academic extracurriculars. Let me tell you, join them while you can; most of them are BS in HS anyway and don't require much work. Join prom committee, 4H, yearbook, math club or something.

Can you get into college? Yes ... eventually.

You don't take direction well right now. That makes college pointless for a while. You need to mature a little before you can get what you need a from college level education so that when you ask questions and get good answers, they stick in that thick skull of yours. BTW ... being stubborn is a good thing once you sort out how to make that work for you. Get out there and work for a few years until you're ready for school, then hit it and get a degree in what ever you learn to love.

Will your extracurricular activities help you? Yes ... but not financially or academically.

Things you learn to do now will help you stay busy in college and stay away from trouble. Weight training, BJJ, boxing, wrestling ... all of these are great stuff in college. You'll make some outstanding friends that do some serious chemicals ... whey, creatine, and fish oil come to mind :).

You should stop being so negative, your just a young kid who asks questions that others your age won't ask publicly or online.

Just try to make an effort on your spelling, try the spellcheck feature above.

I'm in college right now, in a real small town in kentucky and I'm from an even smaller town. There are a lot of underprivileged people in the area and a whole lot of dumbasses and most of them have been accepted to some sort of college. I personally graduated with some guys who were and still are border line retarded but are actually in college and aren't completely failing out. The key is to apply early, talk to your school counselor about financial aid and scholarships. Another thing to consider is to try out of state schools, find somewhere small (i.e. Morehead State University, where I attend) in another state where standards are low. I've had classes with people from texas, alaska, even from other countries and most of them don't pay shit for school. In fact a girl from Texas I know is here on a fuckin volleyball scholarship and she doesn't even play on the team anymore due to injury.

Coming from a former street kid like myself if you can't make it into College try going into the military.

You can be whatever you want to be, you just have to work hard at it....just drop that street crap.

I wish I entered the military.

as do I

I went to community college for a while, trust me, if you have a face.... you can get in. I didnt drop out of highschool or anything but i didnt take it seriously at all. I got a little more serious in my last two years but still i was kinda like f this. If you do well in a community college (which anyone can) then when you apply to regular four year colleges they will look at how you did in community college instead of how you did in highschool. Plus colleges want people who are going to graduate, if you already have a year or two under your belt from a community college you'll have a better chance transferring in then someone comming straight from highschool.

money, grades, test scores - in that order...

I also believe that you can't attend a school with 40,000 students (like IU) if you're socially retarded.

Community College would allow you to take classes and get an Associates degree for minimal money. Solid idea.

I got an AA degree from a Technical College. It got me a high paying job with a future, and did me a lot of good. I am also going back now. If I can make it through college I'm pretty sure just about anyone can. It's just a matter of putting forth the effort. Find a degree that has a high placement rate for high paying jobs that interest you.

I think Danny's best chances would be if he joined the Navy, not the Marines or Army because he doesn't sound responsible enough to respect a gun.....the Navy will teach him a little discipline and how to follow directions while doing his 4 years he could take college courses and then use the GI bill when he gets out....

I might go try out for buds, I keep getting rushes by signing up for slightly more dangerous things. lol when i was almost in the coasties, i wanted to be in more of a combat orriented team, but not in all that much real danger. Now that i have got comfy with bein in the Navy and realise it aint that dangerous, I'm startin to get a rush from the idea of going to Buds. This prolly isnt a good pattern I'm falling into. Air traffic control has the #1 suicide rate tho....even tho they get paid, I'm weighin my options........AnyhowMilitary would be great for him esp. air force or navy

The Air Force don't take dummies....and good luck training with the Pre-BUD/S guys up in Great Lakes they nearly made me get pneumonia when I was up there training with them we would go swimming in the freezing Great Lakes during the fall and play paint ball in the snow....but I was the fittest I have ever been during that time....

You need the discipline, it would help you a great deal.

I wasted so much of my time as a kid just hanging out.

i don think i cud do the military i would get into ights with the drill seargent
No you wouldn't, from day one of boot camp they take all the fight out of you or at least our DI's did...they wake you early, exercise all your energy out, keep your mind busy the whole day and exercise you more, and then some more, rinse and repeat...

yeah take some of the advice these guys have been giving, if you really want to you can do it. something like KentDog mentioned. around here, in Canada, community college is usually only 1 year and people come out of it with a decent paying job. I mean it might not be something you can see yourself doing right off, but you'd be able to work for a while in a decent paying job, learn some life lessons, and as this is going on figure out what you might want to take in university.

I don't know what it's like in the US, but here you can do a 2 and 2 program. you spend 2 years at a community college, and then 2 years at a university, and you come out with both a university degree and a college diploma because the university recognizes the 2 years at the CC. but you have to take a similar programs (an example is 2 years of business management at the CC, and then 2 years in a business program at university).

first things first would be finding what suits you though. a buddy of mine who barely graduated high school is now in university and making solid Bs and As. high school doesn't always tell the whole story:thumb:.

Wait is he asking how to get into College or the Cool League?

That's what I'm saying too. The major thing that gets a person through college is drive, but it takes self motivation to get it done. Getting out into the world and working for a bit will tell you a little about what you DON'T want to do. Obviously you don't wanna hand out burgers and fies for a living, but some people wouldn't consider swinging a hammer or setting tile either. The best way to know is to get out there and see.

Any ideas on what you want to do for a living yet danny?
