Howard Stern $20 Million Is for Chumps!

VIDEO: Howard Stern -- I'm Worth Over $20 Million on 'America's Got Talent' | TMZ.com

Howard Stern pooh-poohed the notion that he was only pulling in 20 million measly dollars a year for his freshly-minted role as a judge on "America's Got Talent."

Stern was out in NYC today -- hours after the announcement -- when a camera dude asked if he was making $20 mil. Stern's response: "Do I work for that little?" Stern laughed -- yes, to the bank.

The reason the camera guy asked the question -- there were reports he was settling on $20 mil. But let's put this in context. Stern signed a 5-year deal with Sirius XM for an estimated $400 million.

Update: PTC slams NBC for hiring Howard Stern for 'AGT'
By Ann Oldenburg, USA TODAY

It's a done deal.

After months of rumors, the story is now true. Howard Stern has signed a deal to join the judges' panel on America's Got Talent, he announced Thursday morning on his Sirius XM radio show.

Stern, 57, said that the Los Angeles-based NBC talent competition will move the production to NYC to accommodate him. Stern and his wife, Beth, are longtime New Yorkers, and Stern will continue his radio show.

Update: Soon after the news hit, the Parents Television Council jumped on it, accusing NBC of "desperation" and having "lost its way." According to PTC, the last thing the family-friendly talent show needs is "a performer who is synonymous with shock, profanity and obscenity."

Says PTC President Tim Winter in a statement, "Whatever principles NBC had in the past, when the network was successful, have clearly gone out the window."

NBC confirmed the news -- including the NYC move -- in a statement.

"Howard Stern's larger-than-life personality will bring a thrilling new dynamic to America's Got Talent starting this summer," NBC exec Paul Telegdy said. "He's a proven innovator and his track record in broadcasting is truly remarkable. Howard is very passionate about this show and is fully committed to its future success."

I can't stand him

Howard Stern is incredible.

Howard Stern is incredible.

He was better when he was riding the razor's edge of free broadcast radio...now he's made himself irrelevant I think. No one asks "Did you hear the HS show this morning?" and part of the fun was the "risk" of going over the line. That's completely gone on a no holds barred subscription service.

I used to listen every day while delivering newspapers...right after the looney aliens, ghosts, and conspiracy programming on AM radio that was running from like 1-4 in the morning. Howard would start at 5am if I remember on the West coast then restart at 7 or 8 once we caught up with the East Coast...that always sucked having to wait three hours to see how an interview or skit ended.

He used to be on channel nine years ago where I live. He was funny as hell back then. Pushing the snapple commercials. In the early 90's late at night.I like the talent he finds.

Alot of talking out of ass going on in this thread.

I don't like him. I think his show is boring as fuck. Satellite radio was a huge letdown, too. The only reason I got it was for the comedy channels, and I swear to god they play the same 20 clips over and over and over and fucking over again with the same obnoxious dick pill commercials in between every 3 minute clip.

Fucking waste of money.
