And it was ok. Better than The Village, thats for fucking sure. God damn hated that movie!

My friend said it was "fairy-taleish." And I have to agree with her.

There were some interesting parts and they made me delve into the movie's plot more, but the climatic event just SUCKED. I wanted more. Right where you finally get to see what you know will eventually come out, you end up feeling cheated. It wasnt enough!

Then on top of it all, the credits come up.

Not to mention, the dialogue when the movie first starts, really has NO basis throughout the movie. "Man has forgotten how to listen." Bullshit, everyone in the fucking building seemed to listen to this fairy tale. That to me was unrealistic.

But it was ok.

I thought the village was excellent! but then again Im a big geek when it comes to social sciences!! cant wait to check this one out!

Yeah a lot of people have mixed opinions of The Village. I went into the theater expecting a Signs-type chiller and that's why I was disappointed. If you can look beyond the way it was mis-advertised, it actually was a pretty decent movie. I'm going to go into Lady in the Water with no expectations and ready for any type of twist that could make it completely different than what the trailer offers.

Anyone ever see "C.H.U.D." I saw it when I was a kid and I thought it was great.
IMO America doesn't make good horror films anymore, everything is just a slasher. I like movies that mess with your mind, like the original Halloween when the kid comes into his sisters room while she is brushing her hair and starts to stab her, that scene messed me up as a kid. I liked the music in the first Halloween and the cinematography was great througout, especially when they showed the neighborhood. What's the best horror movie of all time??? Japan knows how to make good horror movies (these are all really fukt up but great too: A Tale of Two Sisters, The Eye, Audition and Ichi The Killer). Yikes. :shake:

It got pretty bad reviews. I loved The Village. I love all his movies. Unbreakable, Signs, Sixth Sense. Awesome director. I heard he has a pretty large part in this one.

I love the Village, and Signs was pretty cool, but it had some major flaws. I dont understand why, if those aliens were SOOOOo Smart, that they would run around and jump on peoples roof and crap. And if they could be killed by water, and they were in the midwest (an incredibly humid place) That they didnt just melt as soon as they got out of their crafts.

not just that, thers more, you need to watch it again. I find it ironicle that a bible thumper like you picks on a hollywood movie because it lacks realism! :hmmm:

All of his movies were great... this one, not so much. :(

I kinda agree with Fish. Although I saw Signs in the theater and loved it and still think it's a great movie(M. Night is the king of making people jump), I thought there was room for improvement. I understand the whole faith and signs bit, but some of the signs and symbols were kinda lame. Maybe too simple or something. I don't know I thought there could have been a little bit more.

Yeah I love movies that follow no logic and have huge plot wholes. Its ok, because as long as the message is good, everything is ok.

I wouldn't question MNS's logic or say that there were huge plot holes, I just think there was something lazy about the film. The Sixth Sense for instance, was perfect in my opinion.

More often than not, there aren't plot holes in the story until post-production. This is when they take the 5 hours of footage that tells the story just as MNS had planned, and edit it into the 2 hours the studio asked for. This is a directors nightmare (especially one like MNS) because it often ruins movies with a complex story line, and it's the main reason people will say "The book was waaaay better" (although I don't think there was a book for this one).

I liked it, I hated the village though.

Unbreakable was problably his best movie. Saw Signs a few weeks ago, that had a lame ending as well.

I like Paul Giametti, hes a good actor... look foward to this one! Hated Signs and the Village.

"this water tastes old..." SHUT THE HELL UP YOU AINT GETTIN ANY MORE CUPS!

AND WHAT THE HELL ABOUT YOU?! YOU KILLED THE DOG WITH BARBEQUE PRONGS!!

Yeah. Aliens that die from water, thats real probable, especially since you know, THERES ALWAYS WATER DISPERSED IN THE AIR. Any creature I can kill with my super soaker doesnt deserve to live, or be shown in a hollywood film.

The wicked witch didn't melt until water was thrown on her.

I see what you're saying. But there's also the possibilty that they're not harmed by insignificant amounts of water. Like humans can deal with modearte amounts of heat or cold, but extreme amounts can kill us.

its almost as retarded as a man who can turn water into wine, and walk on water!

Signs was my favorite. Though the ending (actually my fav. part) and the wonder of the movie (aliens inhabit a planet that is dominated by water?) were a little short winded, I simply did not care. I was that entertained. If I wanted movies to be perfect, Id never be happy.

Unbreakable got better and better the more I saw it and discussed it on...well..rottentomatoes.com (another site I cant access at work).

The Sixth Sense sure got the public's attention on this writer, director's talents.

I am not a fan of "sppoks" or "jumps" cuz I beleive any director with a sound editor can do it. A sudden camera movement followed by an instant loud sound? Yeah, thats tough.

However, M. Night can setup a scary aura. A creepy feeling that is similiar to the description of the first Halloween.

THIS movie has that aura AND spooks. And what makes it work, is that it follows through. The Village DID NOT. At the end when the allegid monster stood there quietly then charged at her was pretty intensful...only to have it fucking completely ruined by revealing its secret.

M.Night's calling card is his "twist endings." Though they might be tedious and overplayed, they work. However, The Village's, in my opinion, was just plain horrible. Lady didnt really have a twist. And if it did, it wasnt at the end. From that, I was kinda grateful and just enjoyed the movie.

what is your deal? My personal beliefs have nothing to do with me critiquing a movie, if you're so willing to offend simply to defend some stupid ass director, maybe you ought to be over on his fansite textually jacking him off instead of slandering people's beliefs just to get a rise out of them.
