I am going to be betting intensely starting next week, so I mine as well get some practice during the conference tournaments, as the men are separated from the boys in this kind of an environment.

I'm going to try and have a pick for just about every game, but I'm not on Spring Break (when the real madness begins) until next week, so I may be too busy to get every single one in.

Tip off starts today at noon with South Florida versus DePaul.

I'm leaning South Florida minus the seven points at this point.

Off to the gym..

I would love to be a broker, I just have no idea how to read the market.

Sports betting comes more naturally to me. Years ago, when I wasn't throwing actual money on games, I was still making predictions on who was going to win.

How do you even become a stock broker? What would I have chosen to major in? Business?
 
1-0 to start the day, although DePaul made it way more interesting in the second half than they had me believing in the first.

I'm nervous about this game because the line seems too low.

Everybody and their mother is pounding UConn and yet the line won't budge. I understand it's St Johns and there might be some clapping fans in the crowd, but UConn is the far more talented team and no 2:00PM on a Tuesday crowd is going to silence the Huskies.

I hope I'm right - if not, I'll be upset that I fell for the trap.

I'm not sure. You could just take a few hundred bucks and open an e-trade account and try trading on your own. There are plenty of stocks out there that are under 1$/share. You could do your own research on-line or a newspaper and pick companies. It takes time just like anything. You may be good at it and enjoy it.

Me and 90+ percent of the public lost on UConn today. What a fraud of a team...

I've always considered opening an E-trade account with $100 and taking my chances. That's what I originally did with BoDog before a built up a decent bank roll.

Do you do E-Trade? Is that where you bought Apple?

I use Ameritrade. There are other ones out there. Scott trade, e-trade, ameritrade. I'm pushing e-trade because I own some of its stock:)

I think you've been watching the wrong sports news. Nobody thought they were that great and they've been at best an NIT bubble team the last two weeks.

Bob Morris takes the game. Tough loss.

UConn has been all over the place but they played well down the stretch and should have never been blown out like they were.

Lets get this started...

Georgetown -13 over Ohio, Risking 5.5 units to win 5

Georgetown is the toughest team to bet on because while they have no ceiling, they're very capable of laying a dud. It seems to me that a lot of these Big East teams will be happy to be done playing the gauntlet that is the Big East caliber schedule - its tough, no matter where you go. Imagine a loss at UConn being considered a con to your resume this past Sunday. With that said, Ohio finished 9th in the MAC, a year in which the conference was down. Armon Basset, former IU stud who transferred after the whole Kelvin Sampson debacle, tore it up over the weekend to pull off the stunner. There's a voice in my head wanting Armon Basset to dominate or at least cover, but you have to put bias's aside to make a profit in sports gambling and thats what needs to be done here - Georgetown is clearly the superior team and has the ability to win by 20. To me, this is one of those games where if Georgetown doesn't win by 15+, it'll be because they're ultimately going to lose.
 
Kentucky -19.5 over East Tennessee State, risking 3.3 units to win 3

East Tennessee State has played some tough out of conference teams and kept it within the twenty point range (@ Louisville, losing by 13 and @ Tennessee losing by 12), however, they haven't played a team as talented as Kentucky. Despite keeping many of their games close, they have some bad double digit losses against conference foes as well. The icing on the cake is that their tallest regular is 6'6 and they won't be able to match up on the interior against Patterson and Cousins. A medium play, with so many points involved, but I feel confident Kentucky wins this one with ease.
 
Texas -5 over Wake Forest, 3.3 units wins 3

Both teams were highly touted at one point this season. In fact, Texas was ranked number one for a short while. Since then, they've gone in a tailspin and haven't given the necessary effort on the defensive end to put together some quality games. They have all the potential in the world though, with a couple of future NBA'ers - not that that translates into college success, but against a team that sputtered down the stretch losing five of their last six only to get blown out in the conference tournament, I think it just might. I watched North Carolina play a handful of times this year and they were worse than my Indiana Hoosiers - they beat up on Wake Forest just a couple of weeks ago. I like Texas tomorrow.
 
Northern Iowa ML, 3 wins 3

This team has the feel of one of those Southern Illinois teams from years ago. They absolutely shut teams down defensively and they have a group of players that are all similarly talented and mesh extremely well. They won 28 games this year and held their own against some pretty solid competition. Watch for Egelseder tomorrow...

Notre Dame -3 over Old Dominion, 3.3 units wins 3

Old Dominion isn't without talent, but I like what Mike Brey and the Fighting Irish were able to do down the stretch of the season. Without their best player, they played their best basketball. Upon Harangody's return, they won seven straight games and pushed West Virginia (the Big East tournament champion) down to the wire. I like the way they've been able to play and I think the run they were on down the stretch carries over into the tournament.
 
Richmond -125 over St. Mary's, 3.75 units wins 3

I watch a lot of WCC games, being on late at night and have followed St. Mary's closely with another former IU standout, Ben Allen suiting up for the Gaels.

They're not a bad team and have every chance to beat Richmond today, but I don't think that will happen.

This group of players for Richmond has seen improvement every year since their freshman year. They played some tough teams in tough conferences very well and despite eight losses, have shown an uncanny ability to win close games.

Buying the 1.5 points is simply to deter my fears from last year, in which I lost multiple games in the first round by a point or two.
