MLB hands down 211-game suspension for A-Rod, star batting cleanup tonight and union head thinks appeal process won't end till after season - NYPOST.com

CHICAGO -- It?s official: Major League Baseball has suspended Alex Rodriguez for 211 games, effective Thursday.
The Yankees? beleaguered third baseman will appeal the sentence, allowing him to make his 2013 debut tonight against the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field, where he will bat cleanup and play third base. Union head Michael Weiner said the appeal process will likely last until the offseason, meaning the Yankees could have him for the rest of the year.
Commissioner Bud Selig issued the long-awaited press release today.

A-Rod is one of 13 players whom MLB disciplined as part of its investigation into Biogenesis, the now-shuttered anti-aging clinic in South Florida, and he is the only one to appeal his sentence, which is far longer than that of the others. The Yankees and Rodriguez both released statements of their own.

I vary badly want to know what the evidence is as none of those players have tested dirty.

I never was an A-Rod fan, well actually when he was in Seattle he seemed like a cool guy. I really thought he was going to break all these records as a Yankee player. What a drama queen attention whore he turned out to be.

I personally can't stand Arod and hate the yankees, but I hope he wins his appeal.

He's the main guy in the spotlight! The guys that got caught are the only ones who were using in baseball right?:jerkit: The competition is too great among players "especially in their last productive years" looking for the "edge" when it comes down to competing with the elite will go on forever.

He deserves every single game that he was suspended. Cheaters have no place in organized sport. Cheating multiple times is nothing but a big metaphorical slap in the face of the entire game. Players like this will ruin the MLB if they go unchecked. Good Riddance!
