MONSTER ENERGY DRINK SUED FOR DEATH OF 19-YEAR-OLD

UPDATE: Jan. 19, 2017 -- Monster Energy has issued TMZ a response, stating, "There is no medical or scientific basis to support connection between Monster Energy Drinks and cardiac arrest purportedly suffered by Dustin Hood."

Monster Energy Drink killed a teenager ... so his father claims in a new lawsuit.

Dustin Hood downed 3 1/2, 24-ounce cans of the self-proclaimed buzz drink within a 24-hour period back in 2015. According to the lawsuit, after drinking the last can, he played basketball and collapsed face first on the concrete court. He was rushed to the hospital where he died a short time later.

According to the lawsuit, Dustin died of cardiac arrhythmia ... triggered by a caffeine overload. The suit claims 3 1/2 cans of Monster has the equivalent caffeine content of 14, 12 ounce cans of Coke.

The suit notes others have suffered cardiac arrest following the "acute consumption" of Monster.

Dustin's dad wants unspecified damages.

So he consumed close to 700 mg's of caffeine.

People need to be careful with this stuff especially when they are young and have low tolerance. Ive been guilty of doing a couple scoops of pre workout with the same caffeine content and I must say I always kick myself in the ass for doing that.

Well sure it is individual. Anyone sensitive to it can certainly die from caffeine in moderate dose and excessive exercise.

Does the can have a warning label? If I remember right, it says do not consume more then one drink in 24 hours. If so, they are legally covered. I mean drinking 3 of those and then playing basketball..is a pretty good recipe for a heart attack...

Not rocket science. Sad, but there is no valid lawsuit here.

If he died from 700mg of caffeine he definitely had issues already. I've gone way over there numerous times in my life. Its sad that he is gone, but a couple strong Starbucks would do the same thing. You can't sue everyone who puts caffeine in their products.

Oh I have, plus those have yohimbine in them as well.

I've gone that high on tren, orals, and others stims as well. Some are just predisposed to this stuff.
