This has probably been asked a million times, but being new here I might have missed it.

What is the best food for promoting the body's production of testosterone, barring all the supplements that are out there?

Thanks, Dave.

The best thing you can do is stay fit, eat healthy, get adequate rest, take a multiple vitamin/mineral pack, keep your protein intake high, work-out, don't over train, don't get stressed out.

There are two supplements that can help ZMA and Tribulus. Especially at your age, you are more prone to have a zinc/magnesium deficiency. Also, ZMA prmotes sleep which is very important.
Tribulus emulates the hormone LH, if you take it too long your body will slow down it's production of LH. So, once you stop taking Tribulus you will be back where you started. So, if you do take it make sure you cycle on and off.

Thanks Prince, I'll have to check those out and see if they are available in Canada.

Does anyone else know?

I was really interested to know if there were any specific foods, OTHER than supplements, that were of use in promoting the body's natural production of testosterone.

NiftyFifty,

I am only 41 but I can't think of any specific foods that help. I have read that oysters help because of the zinc in them, so the ZMA might help. I have tried both Tribulus and ZMA and neither seemed to up my sex drive if that is any indication of a raise in testosterone. Oh I have read that getting enough fatty acids will help like eating peanuts and peanut butter, salmon and things like that. Supposedly lifting heavy will make your body produce testosterone. Stay away from alcohol that supposedly will lower it.

I don't do anything but lift hard and eat right and seems to be working for me.

Oh and as for my sex drive you can ask my wife it is doing just fine.:D

Thanks, Craig, what's you're wife's address? J/K::D

Seriously, sort of, I'm glad to hear peanut butter's on the list, I love that stuff!

Dave.

Oh NiftyFifty I thought of another natural way to boost testosterone. Go to W8lifters site and look at her pictures if your testosterone doesn't soar you have to be dead. :D

A diet too low in fat will supress natural testosterone production. It has been found that a diet that contains about 30% fat will keep test levels at optimum levels. To get your fat intake up, I suggest adding EFAs to your diet through fatty fish, flaxseed oil, and olive oil.

Your goals

I don't know what your goals are but I have found that Yohimbe at about 800mg seems to give me the same symptoms reported by avid steriods users.

Unless your yohimbe is laced with some steroids or good prohormones, you are getting some sorta placebo effect my friend! Yohimbe is a fat burner and vasodilater in the extremities, NOT a test booster!

What is ZMA?

Zinc/magnesium aspartate supplement...meant to be taken before bed and purported to raise test levels in some, while providing a more restful sleep.

I can tell by the effect of w8's pictures!;)

The reason I asked, is if you suspect them being low you should go to your doc and ask to have it tested.
