I'm 26 years old been working out for about 6 years, 5'10 180lbs. I have a great diet just recently lost 44 lbs. pretty much off pure cardio and instense boxing training along with my 3-4 day a week weights. Really have not ever taken any type of supplements. My cousin has been lifting and gaining very good results lately by taking, fish oil, regular protein shakes, some type of testosterone booster, and black powder. I want to cut out and gain somemore muscle at the same time, any suggestions on what supplements I can take to gain these results in about a 10-12 week period?

Any suggestions would be great, thanks!

First of all, congratulations on your weight-loss. Secondly, it is unusual to lose that much weight without altering your diet. How much did your body fat % drop?

Addressing losing fat and gaining muscle at the same time. You have a physics issue on your hands in which you are asking to reduce intake while using that negative intake to build muscle tissue. It's not going to happen at a significant level. Pick one: cut fat or build muscle.

In terms of general supplements,

The fish oil is a great start. Take 10g (10,000mg or 10 capsules for most companies. You are looking for total EPA/DHA, 10g of fish oil will usually give you 3g of epa/dha. On the back you'll see that 1 capsule is 300mg of epa/dha).

Creatine mono is good stuff. Don't bother loading and take 5g each day post-workout. Creatine ethyl ester (CEE) is around as well. Some people claim that it helps with gastrointestinal issues and some claim that it 'works' better. All the studies for mono are substantial, whereas the stuff you'll here about CEE is just anecdotal. Doesn't mean that it doesn't do what people say it does, but the mono will do what is said that it'll do.

Take a multivitamin each day.

Protein powder is just that. Its powdered and ultimately a liquid protein. It functions like food. Many people find it difficult to consume their daily protein requirements using solid food, therefore, they turn to quick and easy to prepare protein shakes. However, there is absolutely nothing in them that you can't find in real food. There is nothing magical that'll make you big and ripped.

Thanks bud...I did alter my diet big time, I was working out eating whatever burgers and all the bad, then changed it up completely, so with the diet alteration and the intense cardio & boxing the weight started to fall off, I was def. overweight. Not exactly sure on how much body fat % i lost. I do need to cut the stomach area out but all in all since I just cut so much weight I'm ready to start building more muscle.

So the fish oil, protein powder and creatine mono would be my best start, how long should I keep this routine until I change it up or add additional kicks?

Good to know that your diet was changed. It didn't sound like in from the original post.

You can stick with those products forever basically. They all serve a scientifically backed purpose and are relatively inexpensive.

One thing that I forgot to mention that people typically use on cutting is an EC or ECA stack. Ephedrine, caffeine, aspirin. Most typically ditch the aspirin and just stick with the EC portions. Basically, you start popping 200mg caffeine (you can find it in walmart or wherever for cheap --ask where they have something like NoDoz, and buy the generic brand) and about 25mg of Ephedrine HCl or Ephedrine Sulfate. You can find the sulfate version over the counter in the form of Bronkaid or for the HCl version there is Primatene, but it only comes in 12.5mg of ephedrine hcl per pill. Either way, I havent found a difference, pick one, take one 200mg caffeine and one 25mg serving of ephedrine sulfate/hcl and see how you feel. If you can handle that, take two. If that's fine after a few days, you can up it to three doses of EC. That can help you with cutting. I know Charles Poliquin jumps up and down about how it raises cortisol but I can't find that anywhere else.

In terms of other stuff. There is a whole lot of stuff out there. Some stuff works and some doesn't necessarily do what they claim. That said, what additional kicks are you looking for? What do you think you need to perform better?

Stuff like NO-Xplode or whatever is popular for energy boosts. Its basically a bunch of stimulants with some nitric oxide to relax your smooth muscle and allow more blood to rush giving you a bigger 'pump'. Yea it may feel nice, but it wont do anythin performance-wise and its like 60 bucks a container. Theres a bunch of garbage like that....none of it is really worth it.

In a few years if you've hit you've put on a lot of muscle, have your diet fully under control and can reach low body fat levels...and you have reached your genetic limit...and you are willing to handle the physiological, social and legal risks... check out the Anabolic Zone section for a legitimate boost.

...and don't forget your multivitamin.

A great diet, a good multivitamin, and a good exercise/workout routine will work like magic. I do use some supplements sometimes to help keep up with a hard session or after one for a smooth recovery. but nothing beats a solid diet and a balanced routine !
