I have been advised to take Calcium + Magnesium before to going to bed at night to lessen sore muscles and cramps during the night. I have no real discomfort during the days.

I am doing strength traning with weights on Tuesday and Fridays, with a pure cardio session on Sundays. Surely not overtraining ?

Anyone had experience with a Calcium + Magnesium supplement ? I'm only taking Flax Oil and a multivitimen, but eating well.

I dout you will get much relief from Cal and mag. Sore muscles are caused by lactic acid buildup during workouts. Try stretching good after workouts to get some of it out and it will help.

I think I have heard that Potassium will help but I may be wrong.

Sore muscles will take time but the cramps could lead to lack of water. Are the cramps in your legs?

But like the above have said drink plenty of water.

Me Too

I must admit i get the same feeling. even if i have drunk a crap load of water all day and during the workout i find out that if i have pushed real hard durnig a workout and even spend time stretching i still get cramps in my arms when i go to bed when i have my arms resting in a certain position.:hmmm:

Stretching & Hydrating

Thanks for the feedback. :clapping: I'm going to stretch , again, just before going to bed. This problem only comes on after sleeping about 4 hrs.

Hydrating: Should I drink just water ? :hmmm: I am drinking a sports drink during the workout - 500ml of an 'isotonic' drink. I sometimes have a piss when going for my shower, so I thought I was getting enough fluid. I'll drink more water during the day to see if it helps.
The cramps are in the calves, but mainly after doing squats, deadlifts and calf raises. Not surprising I suppose.

Bananas

Clever idea to eat bananas. I might be wrong, but I seem to think that Bananas have Potassium in them. I know that Potassium is an electrolyte that is important for the heart, so u got to be careful. But I can't overdose on bananas ;). Also,I like them ! Years ago, when I was underweight I used to make a shake with milk, egg, bananas & peanut butter
