This is aimed toward the older guys here. In regards to cycling and the bodybuilding lifestyle in general....if you could travel back in time and start from scratch, what would you do differently?

-Would you wait longer to start using AAS?
-Would you have used more AAS? Less?
-Would you have taken better care of your health?
-Would you have trained differently?
-Would you have been more serious about your diet?
-Would you have put more time in?
-Would you have taken it less seriously and enjoyed your life more?

Just some examples. Please share your thoughts. Being a young guy in this game, I like to learn from the veterans who have done it all. Hopefully some other young guys can use some of the advice as well :)

I would have learned how to diet and be more scared of getting hurt and be more scared of just taking every thing and any thing to make me look better . and wish I could get out of the mind set of using stuff any thing gear, hgh, pep what ever to over come bad diet and being lazy. I am paying the price now with injury which I think are from gear use or abuse and I am sure I will prob pay with my life when I get older from cancer or heart problems if not it will be a miracle.it is not worth it at all.

-Would youwait longer to start using AAS?
I had myfirst batch of orals (d-bols) at age 19 while in college. This was back in the early 80s so we had tofind a guy that knew a guy and make the exchange in the parking lot. I was going to join the military so I didn?tlike the feel of that type of life. So I stopped after that one batch. Can?t even remember what dose it was butprobably 25-30 mg. Got some decent size, had no idea what pct was. I waiteduntil I was in my mid 40s before I tried it again. This time I did it right, took Test only for first 3 cycles then added orals like dbols or abombs. I?m in better shape now that I was when I was19 and probably better than 95% of the guys walking the street. Won 3 comps so far and just got 400 lb BP atunder 200lbs, so I feel great.
-Would youhave used more AAS? Less?

I think I?vedone it text book. Kept at 500 gm ofTest a week, when dbol added stayed in the 30ism mg range. With Abombs at 50mg. So neither more or less.
-Would youhave taken better care of your health?

Yes, from32 to mid 40s I got fat. And with theincrease weight came a lot of health issues like high blood pressure, fattyliver, depression, insomina. Once I gotback into shape all of those vanished.
-Would youhave trained differently?
When I lostmy weight I did it primarily by first walking then jogging. I wish I would have incorporated weights wayearlier than I did. I didn?t until I had lost 60lbs. Then I hit the gym big time. Got on stage for the first time, two yearslater.

-Would you have been more serious about your diet?

Diet is byfar the most important thing, even more so than training or AAS. So yes, I wish I had fully grasped that goingin.

-Would you have put more time in?

Trainingwise, I?ve done very well. I think I?veonly taken maybe 3 wks off in the past 4 years. I work out 3 days on, one day off. So far I have avoided any major injuries

-Would you have taken it less seriously and enjoyed your life more?

Hardestquestion to answer. My biggest regret isNOT staying in shape. I was in good military shape until age 32, when I gotout. Then started a family, had a career?so I stopped going to the gym. Other than making more $, everything else wasworse.
Now that I?mback in shape (best shape of my life in fact) I do all type of adventurousstuff like white water rafting, scuba diving, hand gliding, rock climbing, evendid a bull ride.
I wasalways a bit shy growing up. So I didn?thave much luck with the ladies. Isettled for girls that weren?t the best match for me, just because they tookthe initiative and talked to me. That iscompletely changed now. I have a lotmore confidence and can ?chat up? anyone, including girls half my age. Not saying I bed them, just saying I have noproblem with approaching them now. Iwish I had had that confidence when I was in my 20s, perhaps my life would havebeen different. I don?t know. But I do know I don?t ever plan on gettingout of shape again.

Hope thishelps

I have 20 years experience in bodybuilding if I started now I had all the knowledge about training, diet and pharmacy sure I saved a lot of time wandering and error, I achieved a brutal form of five years dedication to the sport, maybe you'd saved some injuries as severance of one pectoralis. but no regrets everything was worth it, bodybuilding
