President Trump Planning to Pardon Michael Flynn
November 25, 2020
Sources with ?direct knowledge of the discussions? told Axios on Tuesday that President Trump told aides he is planning to pardon General Michael Flynn. The long suffering three-star general served briefly as President Trump?s National Security Advisor (NSA).
Hopefully, Flynn?s four-year persecution will be coming to an end soon.
In order to understand Flynn?s long legal journey over the last four years, one must be aware of the animosity President Obama and his top intelligence officials felt toward him. To them, Flynn was the man who knew too much.
Flynn?s case was also inextricably tied to the case against President Trump who was their real target.
It was perfectly legal for Flynn, who had already been tapped as the incoming NSA, to discuss the new sanctions enacted by the Obama Administration with then-Russian ambassador Sergei Kislyak.
Kislyak had been under US surveillance and Obama intelligence officials had access to recordings and transcriptions of his calls.
Because they had heard the call with Kislyak, Obama officials knew Flynn had lied to Vice President Mike Pence. They exploited this and claimed this lie ?might somehow expose Flynn to Russian blackmail.? (When Pence found out Flynn had lied to him, President Trump quickly fired him.)
In the meantime, Flynn?s name had been ?unmasked by someone in the Obama administration, and the contents of the calls were leaked to the Washington Post?s David Ignatius,? who promptly published a story.
Former Vice President Joe Biden suggested in the infamous January 5, 2017 Oval Office meeting that Flynn may have violated the Logan Act. This is a law ?that prohibits private citizens from acting on behalf of the United States in disputes with foreign governments.? No one has ever been prosecuted under this 1799 law.
Under the pretext that Flynn had lied to Pence and that he may have even violated the Logan Act, then-FBI Deputy Director Andy McCabe called Flynn to ask him if he could send a couple of agents over to the White House to talk to him. He assured Flynn it wasn?t necessary to have a lawyer present.
Agents Peter Strzok and Joe Pientka interviewed Flynn that day and both believed he had been truthful.
In April, we learned that ahead of this ?informal meeting,? top FBI officials held a meeting to devise a plan to force Flynn into making a false statement. They intended to catch him in a perjury trap. They hoped to get him to admit he violated the Logan Act.
Internal FBI notes taken by the agency?s former assistant director of counterintelligence Bill Priestap revealed top bureau officials discussing strategy ahead of the interview. There was no reason to interview him. He hadn?t committed a crime.
Priestap?s notes say, ?What is our goal? Truth/Admission or to get him to lie, so we can prosecute [Flynn] or get him fired??
This was an ambush of an innocent man, an American citizen, a General who served in the U.S. military for 33 years, and the premier law enforcement agency in the United States tried to frame him.
When the documents were unveiled, revealing serious malfeasance by FBI officials, Americans saw for themselves incontrovertible proof of what President Trump and his supporters have been trying to tell them for years.
These revelations led the DOJ to file a motion to dismiss. U.S. District Court Judge and partisan hack Judge Emmet Sullivan has attempted to place as many obstacles as possible in their path.
A pardon from President Trump would end the nonsense, once and for all.
