Question regarding slin pinning

So I did my first slin pin yesterday but I have a few question regarding slin pinning. I pinned with a 29g .5 in my right tricep. Did .5cc cyp

My questions are:
1. is .5 inch enough for my tri's? I am not really fat (around 12% at max, can see all 6 abs) and I sticked it as deep as possible.
2. what would happen if I failed to pin it deep enough?

1- seems like it should be
2- oil "bump" that will be there for a while, take a long time for the body to absorb, possibly be painful for the time being.
