Being poor and/or out of a job means someone should be treated differently? Are you one of those guys that thinks it's a woman's fault for being raped for dressing "that way"?
if your receiving money from the gov't yes they should be able to account for the $$'s spent. Do you feel its right for a person on welfare with 6 kids to neglect their children and use the welfare for personal gains? This has nothing to do with them being treated differently. It forces a responsibility on them to account for their money. By doing this is will also assist in a proper budget which in return is a much better longer solution then doing nothing.
My statement has nothing to do with saying its a girls fault for being raped, and I do believe in some cases that is true. I have a few friends who were girls that were raped that put them selves in situations that no sober person would have. It if was not for the drugs these girls (that I knew were on and the people they choice to hang out with, then it would never have happened) Now a girl walking down the street in a short skirt thats a different story, but lets save that for another topic.
What is your solution then other then raising wages to help these people? Because wages have been raised in the past and its proven that it has little to no effect on poverty. Wages go up, so does goods and we print more money so the dollar goes down. This is not an acceptable means of helping the welfare period. Throwing money at a situation and keeping your fingers cross will NOT help them.
This is why i hate welfare all it does is throws money at people who have no education to balance their own check book and in hopes that the problems go away. We need programs in place that hold them accountable and assists them to get off.
If I am held responsible for every dollar I earn in my business from the IRS why cant they be held responsible, if anything it is treating me different. I also most did not get a business loan because i sold a car with out a receipt and deposited 2k in my bank, I had to find a paper trail to support that sale or i could not get my loan for my business. I am held accountable for my work miles and minutes on my phone and ect. It is not treating them no different, but actually teaches them to be responsible.
Maybe you would rather just throw money at them and not help them actually benefit their lives, but i would like to see good come from the welfare system instead of throwing $$'s at a fucked up situation. The problem is that it is a reality that people take advantage of this, all this does is affect the actual people using it in an ethical manner. To me its taking money out of their hands and family's mouths.
I help underprivileged kids all the time and my friends program does EVERY thing he can do to help give them an outlet in sports and provide school supplies and YES.. It pisses me off when EVERY kid i have meet has a parent with a cell phone and you watch them sit there on Face Book when your mentoring their kids and the kids ask us to help them buy school supplies for them. That is utter bull shit that a parent can have all this material stuff and their kids have NO school supplies.
