I've been around these boards for a couple weeks now, trying to get a handle on everything. A little background info about myself; I'm a senior in high school whom before last September, had never touched a weight, had never been in any lifitng class in high school...in other words all I had on me was bone. I was about 5'11" and 130-135lbs.

I decided last September to get into shape (mainly gain body mass and increase strength). I went to my local gym, got a membership, and got some sessions with a personal trainer to get me accustomed to the whole lifting/exercising scene.

Back then (September 2004), we took some measurements and below are the results:

09/01/2004
Weight: 136lbs
Neck: 13 1/2
Upper arm: 9 1/2
Forearm: 9 1/2
Chest: 33 1/2
Waist: 27 1/4
Hip: 35 1/2
Thigh: 16 1/2
Calf: 12 1/2

Only over the past few weeks have I really started to get serious about lifting and treating my body better. I've started to eat a heck of a lot more, I'm taking protein and multivitamins, and I've started to focus on breaking my workouts down into targetting specific areas.

As of today, here are my stats:

05/08/2005
Weight: 144lbs
Neck: 14
Upper arm: 10 5/8
Forearm: 10 1/8
Chest: 36
Waist: 29 1/2
Hip: 36
Thigh: 17 1/4
Calf: 13 1/8

Here are the differences for each area:

Weight: +8lbs
Neck: +1/2
Upper arm: +1 1/8
Forearm: +5/8
Chest: +2 1/2
Waist: +2 1/4
Hip: +1/2
Thigh: +3/4
Calf: +5/8

I'm excited about the gains in weight I've made over the past few weeks, I've gained two solid pounds due to me eating like a pig the past few weeks. The saying of take what you eat and double it really does apply. ;)

I use to be one of those kids who wouldn't want to take his shirt off around a bunch of friends at a lake or something but now I'm less self-conscious and I can tell my self-esteem has improved. I haven't taken any creatine or any of that.

It's a great feeling to go to the gym and be working out...and see myself in the mirror and I can see the improvements I'm making. I have a feeling that in the coming month or so, I'm going to be putting on more weight and increasing my overall stats as I've really become more dedicated in the past few weeks. :)

Thanks to all those that have helped me in the few weeks that I've been here; all my beginner questions that have been answered have really helped me get on the right track. ;)
