WASHINGTON - Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Thursday rescinded an Obama-era policy that paved that way for states to legalize marijuana. Instead, Sessions will allow federal prosecutors in states where pot is legal to decide how to enforce the federal ban on marijuana sale or possession.

Sessions made the announcement just days after the recreational marijuana market opened in California. Many states have legalized some form of medical marijuana, and a handful have legalized recreational use of the drug.

Some pot companies had already lost 30 percent or more of their stock value hours after the announcement was made, according to New Frontier Data. Overall, publicly traded cannabis companies were down about 15 percent since noon on Thursday.

"Democrats urge Attorney General Sessions to begin the New Year with a commitment to prosecute the real crimes devastating our nation, not to waste precious time and resources waging a pointless, unjust war against innocent Americans." Trump supports the actions taken by
Attorney General Sessions, it doesn't matter
that it "bulldozes over the will of the American people and insults the democratic process."

Indeed, public support for the legalization of marijuana is at record highs, with 64 percent saying they believe it should be legal in an October Gallup poll. As of January 2018, recreational marijuana is legal in Alaska, California, Colorado, the District of Columbia, Maine, Nevada, Oregon and Washington state. It will become legal in Massachusetts in July. Medical marijuana is legal in 29 states and D.C.

Damn, that's fucked up.

The machine is going one way, no matter who is president.

Big Pharma has a lot of power hence the reason cannabis is still a schedule 1 controlled substance, it don't have shit to do with the Trump admin, it should have been de-scheduled years ago.

.... what a bullshit defender of trumpski you are .... of course it's trumpy, it's trumps Attorney Jeff Sessions , with trumpers permission and advice... Trumpski tell Sessions to jump, Sessions asks 'how high' ?? any distraction from Russia and the trump family drama .. that's all trumpy cares about .. #SAD

It's a little bit of both. Big pharma has a lot of power, but Jeff Sessions has always been against marijuana. There are stocks in marijuana, investors are going to get pissed, and eventually, Sessions will step down and it'll back to business as usual.

Sessions has always been known here in the south as a hothead. Trying to ram his ideology down everyone's throat rather than listening to the people. That's why a lot of people were upset about him being nominated for attorney general. It's not a Democrat or Republican issue, he's just the wrong person for the job period.

Marijuana needs to be legalized and doesn't need to be a schedule 1 substance period. Get pass big pharma and that lunatic Sessions, and we'll be good to go. Trump doesn't give a shit about marijuana; hell, he's friends with Snoop Dogg and we know what Snoop's about.
