The Brazilians analyzed the blood of 145 bodybuilders, all of whom were using testosterone or other anabolic steroids. 118 bodybuilders drank alcohol, 27 bodybuilders smoked tobacco, 33 used cocaine and 4 used alcohol, tobacco and coke.Results
The amount of 'bad cholesterol' LDL was 'acceptable' for most steroids users. However, among the small group of users who smoked and drank alcohol and used coke, the LDL level was borderline high.
Conclusion
This Brazilian study is reminiscent of that of an Australian study from 2014, in which the researchers analyzed the results of 24 autopsies on relatively young steroids users. Practically all deceased users had also used recreational drugs.
