Source: Celtics, Timberwolves agree to send Garnett to Boston

I'm sad to see some of the guys I thought I'd see grow in front of my eyes leave, but Kevin Garnett means there is no waiting. The future is now.

YouTube - Kevin Garnett - I Hate to Lose

As a Celtics fan and a diehard, I get the chills watching this vid.

12 years....that long?

I guess no ones going to make fun of Danny Ainge for a while. I will watch this team for sure.

BOSTON - The Boston Celtics announced today that they have acquired 10-time All-Star and 2004 MVP Kevin Garnett from the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, Al Jefferson, Theo Ratliff, Sebastian Telfair, a 2009 first round draft pick (top three protected) and a return of Minnesota's conditional first round draft pick previously obtained in the Ricky Davis-Wally Szczerbiak trade. Minnesota also receives cash considerations in the deal.
"Kevin Garnett is a great player in our league, with a fierce and competitive spirit, who brings offensive scoring prowess and a defensive presence to our team," Executive Director of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge said. "The players we're trading to Minnesota have bright futures in the NBA and we wish them well."
The 12-year pro is one of just five players in NBA history to amass at least 19,000 points, 10,000 rebounds and 4,000 assists joining Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone and Charles Barkley. The 6'11" 253lb forward led the NBA in rebounding for the fourth consecutive season this past year and is just the fourth player in NBA history to do so. He joins Chamberlain, Moses Malone and Dennis Rodman as the only players to accomplish that feat. Garnett has been named to the All-NBA First Team three times (2000, 2003, 2004), the All-NBA Second Team three times (2001, 2002, 2005) and the All-NBA Third Team twice (1999, 2007). Garnett has also been named to the All-NBA Defensive First and Second Teams eight times. His NBA efficiency score of 29.2 was the highest rated of all NBA players in the 2006-2007 season.

will be interesting.

there D still sucks balls, and other then there top 3 they probably have the worst roster in the nba.

I don't know how you can say they have the worst roster outside of the three.

Rondo has all-star potential as soon as this season. Perkins is growing into a solid center, a contributor who is almost perfect for the starting line-up, considering he won't be relied upon to do anything but dig deep for boards and blocks.

Tony Allen showed flashes of brilliance last year before he broke his leg. He plays stifling defense, hes the new "glove."

Leon Powe has been real good too.

Brian Scalabrine was a great role player on the New Jersey teams of old, now that he'll be back in that role, I have no problem with him being option number 4 or 5 off the bench.

Wait.. there D will suck balls? Garnett is one of the best defenders in basketball. The other two, Powe and Allen, are above average defenders as well. And did I mention that Rondo is one of the best defensive point guards in the league, right now?

If theres one thing Danny Ainge has done well, it's draft defensive studs.

Plus, the roster is still yet to be filled.

They will probably only have 13 on the roster, to avoid the luxury tax

Look at the Spurs roster outside of Duncan, Parker and Ginobili; or the Suns after Amare, Marion and Nash. The Celtics top 3 are bonified superstars. There are so many worse rosters on NBA teams after top 3's.

We just signed Eddie House to a 1 yr. deal. Dikembe Mutombo, Brevin Knight, Troy Hudson and many more veteran players looking to make a run are still interested in the C's.

Also, there is a thing going around that the Wolves are going to cut Ryan Gomes, buy him out with the cash considerations they got from the Celtics in the trade and then the Celtics are going to re-sign him. :thumb:

Good post, goodfella.
