supplements..alot to read (sorry) please help?

these are some supplements i have recently purchased along with all the food i plan to eat on a daily basis. please help me on what i should continue using, what i shouldnt bother to use, and what i should look into buying. im currently trying to gain weight/muscle mass and am new to all these supplements that are everywhere. its pretty easy to get lost..or maybe im just delusional ;]

BSN TrueMass
BSN NO-Xplode box set - (i have 2 of these) (includes 1 no-xplode, 4 packets of syntha 6, 1 packet of cell-mass. should i continue using the no-xplode, and should i also look into buying more syntha 6 and cell-mass?)
GNC Pro Performance MegaWhey GNC - GNC Pro Performance® Mega Whey??? Protein - Vanilla (this was the first whey protein shake i ever bought and i still have 1 jug left of it)
NOW Foods Dextrose corn sugar
Redline the ultimate energy rush (i consider this a supplement cause i like to drink a bottle about 10 mins before a workout)
pure protein bars (alot of good flavors, i like to take one with me when i leave and think i might not be able to eat, or might get real hungry while im gone. and i sometimes eat one at night if im a little hungry for a snack)
pure protein karma bar (all natural snack bar, just another thing ill ocassionally eat at night or on the go)
powerbar protein plus
CLIF builder's bar (good flavors, good number of calories/protein/carbs, i like these alot)

and for the BIG bars..
met-rx BIG100 colossal
EAS myoplex deluxe
MLO xtreme
these bars all have alot of calories, alot of carbs, and alot of protein. so should i save these on days BEFORE i work out..save them for AFTER i work out? etc.. (please answer cause these are some-what expensive and i wana make sure i dont waste them heh)


and some questions on possible supplements ive thought about buying..

should i buy some triflex? (this stuff was kinda confusing me because they have like 3 different kinds on their site..one is called sport, the other has SAM-e in it, and the other has hyaluronic acid in it?) GNC - GNC Triflex??? with Hyaluronic Acid

be something to buy? since the TrueMass gainer is kinda pricey and there isnt a whole lot of servings. i was thinking i could get the BSN Dessert for times when i wanted a protein shake but didnt wana use up my TrueMass (like in the mornings, or on days where i dont work out and am resting, or at night) i wana make my TrueMass last a month, i got the 6lb jug)

right off the bat i would say stop shopping at gnc and shop online to save serious money.

what are your goals, you are taking a lot of stuff, and nowhere did you say if you are looking to lose fat or to add muscle. also how old are you?
either way lots oh crap in there. ill try and cover it all.

BSN TrueMass - not a fan of malto loaded weight gainers. the best weight gainer is a homemade one, but malto is crap if you ask me.

BSN NO-Xplode - i hate NO-Xplode, i feel it is a ripoff, it is caffeine, some NO precursors and a dash of creatine. to me it is not a funcntional supplement at all.

packets of syntha 6 - syntha gets some good reviews on flavoring, if you like it, sure stick with it, but there are cheaper alternatives.

packet of cell-mass - cell mass is a decent creatine, but its a bit pricey, and i dont agree with taking it post workout.

GNC Pro Performance MegaWhey - get ON whey or Dymatize, both are cheaper, plus you have the syntha and the true mass, dont go crazy.

NOW Foods Dextrose - why? what purpose is this serving, how are you taking it?

Redline the ultimate energy rush - this and the no-xplode is just dumb.

pure protein bars - these bars are crap
pure protein karma bar - better, but still, why?
powerbar protein plus - crap
CLIF builder's bar - not bad
met-rx BIG100 colossal - crap

why so many protein bars? largely these are candy and protein. the only two bars i EVER recommend are designer supplements sustain bar, and vpz zero impact bar. even then you shouldnt be so reliant on bars. more food!

gnc megaman sport vitapak? - you love gnc, the people at gnc would recommend a turd if the commision was high enough. megaman is a good enough multi, there are others that are MUCH cheaper that can't be found in GNC.

NOW flax seed oil, but is this basically the same thing as the fish body oil pills? or are they 2 different things? - they are both omega 3's but in different forms, if you can get a blend of both great, but you could get away with one or the other.

also, would BSN Dessert - again there are companies that make better, cheaper products that you cant find at GNC. there are better cassein blends out there without the fat.


looking at your supps, where is your creatine? all you need is a multi, fish oils, a joint sups a creatine and protein. you dont need 10 bars 5 forms of protein and many NO products. keep it simple. the more whole foods you eat the better.

yeaaaa i know that now. after looking at a lot of online stores ive come to realise "wow..gnc has shit prices on basically everything in the entire store" but i started going there a little over 2 months ago, and have already gotten the GNC gold card and stuff =/ bleh. so at least if there are a couple things i wana buy there i can get 20% off and i also got a coupon to save 5$ if i buy 50$ worth of stuff, 10$ if i buy 100$ worth of stuff.

basically, my goal is to gain muscle mass, and i know in order to get alot of muscle ill have to also gain a lot of weight. im 20, and weigh around 140 pounds.

alright so about the no-xplode, when is the best time for me to take it? and after ive used it all up..what would you recommend getting to replace it?

if you dont think i should be using cell-mass for PWO..when should i consider using it instead?

yea as for the GNC megawhey its just left-overs that ive had. i bought 2 things of it a while back and still have a whole thing left. i thought maybe i could save it for when i get back into a cutting phase?

i take the dextrose after my workouts, i mix 30-40 grams in with my PWO shake.

redline, how come? if anything i feel like it does give me somewhat of a good energy rush and it usually hits me pretty fast.

whats wrong with the pure protein bars, and why would you recommend the karma bars over them? i have them for a snack pretty much. something i can grab to take with me if im going somewhere and not sure when ill be back, or if ill be able to eat where im going. also i sometimes eat one for a snack at night if im just a litttleee hungry. id also like to mention that the pure protein, and pure protein karma bars were on sale at kroger for 1$ each. so i figured why not, and stocked up on some.

the power bar protein bars, i just bought 2 because i have 2 coupons for them to save $1.22 on each, and theyre like $2.22 each so i basically got them for a dollar each also.
the CLIF builders bars were also 1$ each on sale at kroger, hah..so i got me like 4 or 5 of them.

^^ that is pretty much the only reason i got the pure protein, pure protein karma, power bar, and clif builders bars..because they were all 1$ each and i thought id just grab a variety of each to try ya know. but so youre pretty much saying i shouldnt bother buying the pure protein, pure protein karma, or power bar protein plus bars anymore? ^^

as for the met-rx, eas myoplex, and mlo extreme bars..well i just bought one of each of those. mainly because they all had a large amount of calories (and since i thought i needed ALOT of calories to gain muscle mass/weight i didnt think they were a horrible choice) they also had alot of protein, and the mlo one had some creatine in it. i wasnt at all sure about these when i bought them, and if anything i bought them so i could bring them up when i was making this thread to see what other people thought about them. and also i thought theyd be real good for a meal replacement. somethin to take with me if i know i might not be able to eat a decent meal for a good 3-4 hours ya know.

im not actually real reliant on any of the bars though. only if i think i really really need one, otherwise yea i would definitely choose some good healthy food over one. small snack at night, on-the-go eating..thats about the only time i consider eating a bar. and ill have to look into the bars you recommended. and why do you recommend these over all the ones ive bought? just curious.

ok i wont be buying any naNO vapor then. ive just heard that its real real good for pre work out. i know, i have been doing toooo much reading if anything honestly..my head is filled with so much stuff and i dont know what to believe, what not to, what to buy, what to ignore, what i need and really dont..eh =/ ive been taking in so much reading on supplements in the past 2 or 3 days that its really messed me up and im lost.

instead of the gnc sport vitapak..what would you recommend? i mean i got the GNC gold card, and coupons so the price of the vitapak would be shaved off somewhat. but if there are some better/cheaper ones then id like to look into them anyway.

well i do eat salmon and some other fish occasionally. i eat salmon the most. so maybe i should just buy the fish body oil pills. ive actually been looking into getting more seafood. there is a place called dixxon's fresh seafood about 25 minutes away from me and i just havent been able to go down there and check it out yet.

bsn dessert, well i just was gona get that for times when i wanted a protein shake but didnt want to use up my truemass you know. like morning or night, or on a day where im not gona work out i was gona have one in the middle of the day (cause thats when i usually workout and then use truemass) instead of the truemass. and i thought i saw it on some website for about 15-20$ i didnt really plan to buy the dessert at GNC (actually not even sure if they had it)

as for my creatine..i dont know =/ i duno much about creatine..actually i dont really know anything at all about it to tell you the truth. so suggestions and a little info. on this would be nice.

alright so about the no-xplode, when is the best time for me to take it? About 30-45 minutes before your workout, I prefer taking it on a moderately empty stomach. and after ive used it all up..what would you recommend getting to replace it? I've gone through 2 tubs of NO-Xplode and have found it sufficient but not amazing. I just bought and received today as a matter of fact Cytosport Fast Twitch...I have heard great things about it as well.

if you dont think i should be using cell-mass for PWO..when should i consider using it instead? I like using CellMass and will use it probably for quite awhile...I take it asap after my workout. If I'm loading (which some people may not think is necessary) I will take a scoop before bed as well.

You could... Megawhey has more cals and fat than most whey I have seen. I love using Optimum Nutrition Whey Isolate (10lb bag :D) and I use ON Serious Mass when I'm on my bulk.

as for my creatine..i dont know =/ i duno much about creatine..actually i dont really know anything at all about it to tell you the truth. so suggestions and a little info. on this would be nice. Two types...Creatine Monohydrate and Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL...Monohydrate is older/cheaper and has proven to be beneficial. Creatine EE is a lot newer and a tad more expensive, but it is quickly becoming much more popular. CellMass is great imo, but you can also just get caps or plain powder.

i do have one quick question tho. do you use or recommend syntha-6? and when should i take syntha-6?
 
I tried Syntha-6 when I received some samples in my box of NO-Xplode...I didn't care for the taste, but as for the nutritional values it was perfectly fine. I think it's a little overpriced as well. Like I said in the main post I prefer Optimum Nutrition's Chocolate Whey Protein Isolate. You can find the 10lb bag for around 65 bucks.

^^ that is pretty much the only reason i got the pure protein, pure protein karma, power bar, and clif builders bars..because they were all 1$ each and i thought id just grab a variety of each to try ya know. but so youre pretty much saying i shouldnt bother buying the pure protein, pure protein karma, or power bar protein plus bars anymore? ^^

as for the met-rx, eas myoplex, and mlo extreme bars..well i just bought one of each of those. mainly because they all had a large amount of calories (and since i thought i needed ALOT of calories to gain muscle mass/weight i didnt think they were a horrible choice) they also had alot of protein, and the mlo one had some creatine in it. i wasnt at all sure about these when i bought them, and if anything i bought them so i could bring them up when i was making this thread to see what other people thought about them. and also i thought theyd be real good for a meal replacement. somethin to take with me if i know i might not be able to eat a decent meal for a good 3-4 hours ya know.

im not actually real reliant on any of the bars though. only if i think i really really need one, otherwise yea i would definitely choose some good healthy food over one. small snack at night, on-the-go eating..thats about the only time i consider eating a bar. and ill have to look into the bars you recommended. and why do you recommend these over all the ones ive bought? just curious.

ok i wont be buying any naNO vapor then. ive just heard that its real real good for pre work out. i know, i have been doing toooo much reading if anything honestly..my head is filled with so much stuff and i dont know what to believe, what not to, what to buy, what to ignore, what i need and really dont..eh =/ ive been taking in so much reading on supplements in the past 2 or 3 days that its really messed me up and im lost.

instead of the gnc sport vitapak..what would you recommend? i mean i got the GNC gold card, and coupons so the price of the vitapak would be shaved off somewhat. but if there are some better/cheaper ones then id like to look into them anyway.

well i do eat salmon and some other fish occasionally. i eat salmon the most. so maybe i should just buy the fish body oil pills. ive actually been looking into getting more seafood. there is a place called dixxon's fresh seafood about 25 minutes away from me and i just havent been able to go down there and check it out yet.

bsn dessert, well i just was gona get that for times when i wanted a protein shake but didnt want to use up my truemass you know. like morning or night, or on a day where im not gona work out i was gona have one in the middle of the day (cause thats when i usually workout and then use truemass) instead of the truemass. and i thought i saw it on some website for about 15-20$ i didnt really plan to buy the dessert at GNC (actually not even sure if they had it)

as for my creatine..i dont know =/ i duno much about creatine..actually i dont really know anything at all about it to tell you the truth. so suggestions and a little info. on this would be nice.

alright so about the no-xplode, when is the best time for me to take it? and after ive used it all up..what would you recommend getting to replace it?

if you dont think i should be using cell-mass for PWO..when should i consider using it instead?


no-xplode should be taken 15 minutes pre workout, i am not a fan of this product, as its high in caffeine and low in creatine. i prefer cell mass pre workout, but bsn wouldnt recommend you take their two most popular products at the same time. i would recommend sizeon or something like that in place of both.

i take the dextrose after my workouts, i mix 30-40 grams in with my PWO shake.

redline, how come? if anything i feel like it does give me somewhat of a good energy rush and it usually hits me pretty fast.


good with the dextrose. redline, if you are taking no-xplode is stimulant overload.


as for the bars, whole food sources are better, and you want to avoid sugar alcohols and crap carb sources.
