Take a wild guess, compadre
So I went to buy some whey protein at GNC, and I also got a pack of Vitamin E pills. They have 1000 UI of vitamin E per capsule/ 910mg. Isn't that a lot? I heard the minimum recommended was 4mg per day, and that for an athlete you'd need like 500mg.

You guys think it¡s a bad idea taking one of these a day? Maybe I should chop the pills in half.

It won't hurt you man. I take that much, I'm still alive :D They wouldn't make the servings that high if you weren't able to take it safely, right?

lol..yes its fine..there is a thing as taking too much vitamin e but 1000 iu is not alot...u should have gotten the isomer e..very good e

Well I just want to see if it helps my skin :D

I've been reading about it, it seems that it's probably ok. Apparently the only excess vitamin that you can take is Vitamin A and Vitamin C, which in large quantities will intoxicate you.

Thanks for the responses :D

Ive also been doing some reading (on the pack of my multies :D ) and that said that the only vitamine one can "overdose" is vitamin D.

Are my multies lying to me?

1000 u a day is the dose recommended to prevent Alzheimers (more and more data down the pipeline regarding this). So look at this way, hopefully you won't be a driveling, forgetful geriatrician in 50 years ! However, at doses 1000u and above, it does become a mild blood thinner and clinicians tell people who take such high doses to back down before a major surgery or tooth extraction.

You can overdose on vitamin A as well (or accutane which is similar). Not sure about all the rest, although vitamin C in high doses seems to give me cold sores (or when I was younger any acidic foods).

not water soluble. It is fat soluble or lipophilic which is what contributes to its toxicity since it imbeds itself into the cell membranes and matrix of many of our tissues. I f you over dose:

Birth defects (over 8,000 IU / day) osteoporosis, hair loss, bone pain, elevated blood sugar, liver damage, bone pain, osteoporosis, high blood pressure, headaches, dizziness, double vision, bleeding gums, seizures, confusion, dry / peeling skin, hydrocephaly, dry cough, and asthma.

Vit E doesn't seem to have as much side effects even at super high levels with the exception of thinning the blood, mild nauseau andmuscle weakness.

Oh, I think I'm going to cut back on Vitamin E - these past days I've had a mild headache. I think I'll try one every two days, see how it goes.

Funny about the cold sores - I got two a few weeks ago, and I've been taking in a lot of extra vitamin C, like 800ui. I'm gonna cut back on everything now :P

when working out e is good for an antioxidant and c will help u from getting sick..u cant really not take too much c..if u do i just piss it out

Oh I'm pretty sure you can "overdose" on vitamin C.
