All these quotes are about war!?...

What about the training, motivation, physical well-being, and esprit de corps,
one can receive from military service
(aside from the fighting)

Those of you who have not served,
have no idea,
and should not comment...

... I say "good day to you"

I'm glad someone got my point. Figures it would be another serviceman.

Many thanks.

I was in the Navy.....

You can form the same bonds in the Boy Scouts....or join the Fire Department

You can also look from the outside in and learn from others...

Bonds, sure. But hardly the same.

Come on Manic. You know better than this. I'll not deny you the claim that you had a bad experience in the service but this sort of petty generalization is beneath your intellect.

I remember this, and this is a SHAMELESS, DISGRACEFUL, PIECE OF PROPAGANDA.

I know I always hold that not everybody is the miltary type, but one should at least get a taste of it before you start flapping your beak about it. Many of the greatest authors have been in the military, hell even Jimi Hendrix served his country before he went and made a song called Machine Gun:
MACHINE GUN
TEARING MY BODY ALL APART
MACHINE GUN
TEARING MY BODY ALL APART
EVIL MAN MAKE ME KILL YA
EVIL MAN MAKE YOU KILL ME
EVIL MAN MAKE ME KILL YOU
EVEN THOUGH WE'RE ONLY FAMILIES APART
WELL I PICK UP MY AXE AND FIGHT LIK A BOMBER
(YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN)
HEY AND YOUR BULLETS KEEP KNOCKING ME DOWN
HEY I PICK UP MY AXE AND FIGHT LIKE A BOMBER NOW
YEAH BUT YOU STILL BLAST ME DOWN TO THE GROUND
THE SAME WAY YOU SHOOT ME DOWN BABY
YOU'LL BE GOING JUST THE SAME
THREE TIMES THE PAIN
AND YOUR OWN SELF TO BLAME
HEY MACHINE GUN
OOOOOOOOOO
I AIN'T AFRAID OF YOUR MESS NO MORE, BABE
I AIN'T AFRAID NO MORE
AFTER A WHILE YOUR YOUR CHEAP TALK DON'T EVERN CAUSE ME
PAIN SO LET YOUR BULLETS FLY LIKE RAIN
'CAUSE I KNOW ALL THE TIME YOU'RE WRONG BABY
AND YOU'LL BE GOIN' JUST THE SAME
YEAH MACHINE GUN
TEARING MY FAMILY APART
YEAH YEAH ALRIGHT
TEARING MY FAMILY APART
DON'T YOU SHOOT HIM DOWN
HE'S ABOUT TO LEAVE HERE
DON'T YOU SHOOT HIM DOWN
HE'S GOT TO STAY HERE
HE AIN'T GOING NOWHERE
HE'S BEEN SHOT DOWN TO THE GROUND
OH WHERE HE CAN'T SURVIVE NO NO
YEAH THAT'S WHAT WE DON'T WANNA HEAR ANY MORE, ALRIGHT
NO BULLETS
AT LEAST HERE, HUH HUH
NO GUNS, NO BOMBS
HUH HUH
NO NOTHIN', JUST LET'S ALL LIVE AND LIVE
YOU KNOW INSTEAD OF KILLIN'

Yea, I'm sure you would prefer to see dead soldiers on the cover. Your disdain for us and contempt for the military as a whole is no secret,

Now go back to funneling money into terrorists organizations and let the adults talk.

Sure. But Manic, I'm not talking about Authors and thier experiences. I'm talking about drawing the generalization that the Boy Scouts create the same bonding relationships as the armed forces. That's a pretty shallow argument.

And yes, Hendrix wrote some great classics inspired by his experience.

I think it's great how they've stepped up but I dont any of the fucked things they do to people. And there's a lot of fucked up things they do...

Depends on the branch and unit I guess -
