Sorry it took me so long to get to this, but here it goes...

I took Champions' Myostim for 8 weeks, just as directed. I changed nothing about my training, diet, or supplement schedule during this time. The results were strange...

-stats before usage:
*wt.-255
*bf %-13.5
*6 rep max for dumbell bench press-150's
stiff deadlift-365
alternate dumbell curl-70s
(these movements were one's that I had set out to increase)

-stats after usage:
*wt.-260
*bf %-13.5
*6 rep max for dumbell bench press-155s
stiff deadlift-380
alternate dumbell curl-75s

Ok, looks pretty good, however, I gained almost all of my weight during the first 5 weeks of use, and more than half of it in the first 2 weeks. This is really strange in that these "myostatin binders" are NOT supposed to really start working until 4-8 weeks after you begin using them (if they in fact work at all). Could there have been another ingredient in the product that was working for a while, or do myostatin binders work differently for me? Or, did my body just go through a growth spurt that had NADA to do with the supplement?

Now, according to all that I have learned about all of these myostatin binder products ( and they all contain the exact SAME active ingredient), the really true results can take many months to even begin to show, again, if they work at all. I only took it for 8 weeks. I suspect that a better time to judge would be about 16 or more weeks!

Here is the other problem with my little experiment. It is rumored that the product I took...Champions' Myostim...either contains very little, an inferior form of, or NO active ingredient (or at least the proper one) at all. Suppposedly, only 3 companies have the right to use the true form of the active ingredient, a marine algae called Cystoseira canariensis...active form, CSP-3. These companies are Cytodyne, Pinnacle, and Biotest.

It is rumored that Champion could not secure rights to the "best" form of this ingredient and has been selling a less than "optimal" product. I am not 100 % sure if this is true, but I'm guessing that it is! Of course, I did not know this when I started using this product.

So, did a "myostatin binding" product work for me...sort of, well maybe, not really sure...I can't complain...my bodyweight increased. I got stronger. Pretty cool! But, it probably had nothing to do with Myostim (unless they through some 1-Test in there or something).

If you choose to try this product...and I will again...use either the Cytodyne or Biotest version. And plan on taking it for many months. If you are patient it may pay off...or maybe it won't. If you are looking for a quicker boost...than first make sure your nutrition, training, and recovery are all they can be...than, throw in some 1-AD or 1-Test...I know THEY work!
 
Good to hear you got something out of it. I'm planing on giving it a try next month, lets see how it goes. :D

That is the ONE thing that it wasn't...a placebo effect! I have been at this game FAR TOO LONG to even think about a placebo effect. In fact, I usually believe the opposite...that the supplement I'm taking will have NO effect.

Besides, if you read my post closely, you would see that I believe that the supplement didn't have anything to do with my gains.
 
Sounds like I might give it a try I got a little extra money to get some time.

Go u think the weight gain was lean muscle or water gain?

I believe that in a year or so we'd know for sure (maybe not :) ) if these supps are successful because many people (like gopro) are trying them right now.
So what - you can't wait for another year? got to be on the cutting edge of research? your big prize money will go to another guy?
C'mon, sit down, grab a beer (oops) and relax. Take a whey instead. tried and true :-)
Props to gopro for his report. I remember gopro told that he took a week off (or so) from training - that might be a reason for his improvement (somebody said overtraining? wink wink).
And wow, 150 lbs dumbells for benching - that I'd like to be able to do.

Yup, for some, sitting back and waiting is the right thing to do. However, it is "my business" to take a proactive route and find out what is real and what is hype. As a trainer of teens to grannies to high level athletes it is my responsibility to have answers as quickly as possible so I can steer everyone in the right direction in terms of training, diet, and supplementation.

I don't want the nice people on this board to have to wait a year or two for answers. If I can provide them now, I will do what it takes to do so...within reason of course. I don't want anyone wasting their money and I want everyone to achieve their goals as quickly as possible. Plus, I am trying to get as huge as humanly possible myself!

As for taking a week off...I don't believe I ever said that, or did it?! I just took a week off in Mexico, but that was after I was done with my cycle of Myostim. My gains had nothing to do with being overtrained, etc. My results were unfortunatley inconclusive.

As for the 150s...I'd do more, but my gym doesn't have any heavier :(

as I said, I appreciate what you're doing...obviously it is quite helpful for the rest of us...my comment was directed at the people who are not as advanced...for them, it is much better to wait until the efficient supps and dosages will be firmly established, and then dive in...
just to clarify my point about overtraining - when someone trains religiously, and then takes a week off, usually he can see some unexpected gains...

That is cool Slon...I was just clarifying my position...like I said, I agree with you...sitting back and waiting is often the best thing to do. Let people like me...the idiots, hehehe...be the guinea pigs. No, but seriously, I really try to keep up on all research and developments in the industry, and choose to not always take the research at face value by giving everything "real world" field test on myself and my clients...this is where the REAL info comes from.

As for the overtraining thing...again, I agree. It just wasn't the case with me on this :)

Placebo

Placebo is one of my best supplements. Nothing like the good ol' power of sourceless belief.
