Time to scare the crap out of ALBOB

Since I haven't had an injury in over a year I figured I was due. Just got the results of the MRI on my lower back. According to the doc, the various contusions and lascerations are minor compared to the TWO bulging disks. Thankfully we're not going to go straight for surgery, instead we'll begin with steroid injections. You can't POSSIBLY imagine how much I hate needles.

That's where you come in. Anybody ever had this done? If so, what EXACTLY did they do and what was it like? I had a Cortisone injection in my shoulder before they finally had to do surgery, is it anything like that?

It's pillow biting painful, they try to numb you up, give you some valium to calm down but it ain't that good. I've had it done 4 times on my lower back. The needle is huge, first they inject the dye so they can see the spine in contrast. Then comes the cortisone shot, I swear I felt them scape bone as they targeted several areas around the joint they thought was bothering me. It wasn't as bad when my neurologist did it as it was when the bone doctor did it.
