Newbie here, 5'8" 160, been out of the gym for too long fixin to jump back in with both feet. Hit the 31 year mark and was told a few months ago, in my heavier days (225) that I was borderline diabetic. Diabetes runs in my family so I'm very conscious of my sugar intake now.

Would it be beneficial for me to use an isolate or is there any difference? I know most whey's are moving to no sugar or alternatives (stevia please). Anyone have thoughts or recommendations for killer isolates.

Isolate is a good protein source but will it make THAT much of a difference? IMO, not really. All I take is the whey from NTBM and nothing has been put to a hault. Plus the flavor (ICECREAM BAR) is nuts:mooh:

there is quite a bit of difference and if you're going spend money on whey you might as go with Isolate, here is a basic decription of each:

WHEY CONCENTRATE - A cheap whey protein with relatively high levels of lactose, fat, cholesterol, and denatured (non-functional) proteins.

WHEY ISOLATE - A more pure whey protein with lower levels of lactose, fat, cholesterol or denatured proteins.

Whey Protein Isolate - 100% Pure
