Only the Bush Administration and their clown child Michael Chertkoff can keep America safe from the grumblings of traveler's forced to toss aside liquids and gels at the nation's airports. But while airport officials promised the sealed stuff was really getting thrown out instead of becoming bounty for airport employees, at least one airport is donating the items to the homeless:

Airports dumping toothpaste, lip gloss and wine

ATLANTA, Georgia (AP) -- Loads of liquid goods discarded by airline passengers at security checkpoints will end up in the trash, not in the pockets of airport employees or others, officials at airports across the country promised Friday.

No exceptions -- not even for cases of Napa Valley wine.

"We had people throw away a whole case of wine, or try to drink their wine in line," said San Francisco's International Airport duty manager Lily Wang.

Airport security screeners scrambled to implement a new ban on all liquids and gels -- from lip gloss and toothpaste to perfume and tequila -- in carry-on luggage after British authorities announced Thursday the arrest of 24 people in an alleged plot to blow up U.S.-bound planes. Baby formula, prescription medication and essential nonprescription medication are still allowed.

"I know they have to do this, but I think they went overboard," said Terry Asbury, an Ohio resident who flew from Albuquerque to Cincinnati on Thursday and had to throw out her cosmetics. "I literally lost about $50 or $60 worth of things we were told to throw out."

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport planned to give 11 boxes of surrendered items to the city's human services department, which will give the unopened bottles of shampoo, toothpaste and other items to homeless shelters, airport spokeswoman Lexie Van Haren said

In Pennsylvania, state officials were considering pulling some discarded items for a state program that resells on eBay any items of value relinquished at airport security checkpoints, said Edward Myslewicz, spokesman for the General Services Department. However, officials at the state's main airports in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh said they were discarding all the liquids and gels.

Those Republicans - always lookin' for ways to take potentially explosive products and pass them out to the poor!

Looks like socialism to me. I figured you would love that idea kbm. Instead of taking people's money and giving it to the trash of the country, they skip a step and take people's belongings and give it to the trash of the country.

Why yes. . .without testing it for explosives. . .

I was really just being sarcastic. The airlines aren't taking the items from people to improve safety. They are doing it to give the illusion of safety. Taking people's stuff without due process is a violation of our bill of rights, but Americans don't mind as long as they get their piece of mind. Of coarse, the few of us that have any intelligence know that there is no safety, and with freedom comes uncertainty.
Taking people's stuff with due process also makes a loud statement.

"Hey everybody, we are doing stuff to make your life safer! Look...look at us take your shit from you. Don't you feel safer?"

And dumbasses buy in to this shit. Bunch of god damn pussies.

another glittering example of how scary it would be for a lib to be in the white house. way too weak on defense when we can't afford to be. You're living in the clouds & obviously have no concept of the evil we are dealing with.

And you are a glittering example stupidity. I have no political affiliation. I am beyond that. Affiliations are for small minded people who seek refuge in numbers because they can't think for themselves and require other people to think for them.

Explain to me how the fuck my bill of rights can be violated in the name of national security. It is as absurd as immanent domain. There is no justification for it other than more empty promises to keep me safe.

Well maybe a pussy like you would trade your freedoms for safety, but I don't need protection. I don't need the government to save me from myself. I am going to live my life how I see fit. You are a perfect example of the problem the US. "Omg! Save me from Osoma Bin Boogyman Mr. Bush."
Hahahaha, you sound like a 5 year-old with a monster under his bed.

You are week!
You are scared!
You are brainwashed!

Wake up slave.

I see you've bought in to the "Foreman" school of thought.

Blind leading the blind.

Now please tell me.. just where in the hell has your Bill of Rights been violated by the banning of all liquids on aircraft? No one is saying you can't have liquids. You just cannot transport them from the outside into the secure area of the airport? Once inside you can purchase a beverage of your choice or whatever.

Even still.. if transporting liquid into an airport is so vitally important to you then go buy yourself an airplane and fly yourself (and your liquids) wherever you desire.

You are blinded by your own contempt for authority and enslaved to the lies propogated by your kind.

...another example of a brainwashed, lazy con-servative who would trade all his rights away for the illusion of safety. You aren't living in the clouds at all - you'd much rather establish a dictatorship and then claim you are spreadin' freedom. . .all the while watching it go away. Just how big should the defense budget be, anyway? And don't you think con-servatives aren't too interested in a strong defense when they don't want to pay for it?

Oh puh-leeze...the "evil" routine. You wanna see evil? Turn on the 700 Club.

That makes perfect sense, considering the public has paid for bailouts for the airlines so many times. How dare they expect anything?

Another Republican for government control over our every thought and movement. . .spreadin' freedom....yeah! This is the heart of con-servative reasoning. . ."they hate us for our freedoms....so if we give those up, they won't hate us anymore."

Dear lord......

No one is saying you cannot own your precious toothpast, lip gloss and wine. You just can't have it on my airplane.

If you want to keep your precious items then turn around and go the fuck home :)

This is a case of: "I don't care who it happens to, as long as it doesn't happen to me."

That should really help business. . .and then we'll have to pay to keep the "your plane" operating when it can't make ends meet.

Damn it, you beat me to it.
The airlines is basically "socialized travel" considering that its my tax money that is keeping them a float.
Btw, its homeland security that is advising the airports when and what to do. Now has the airports EVER not followed homeland security's advisories?
The answer is no. Tell me I'm lying.

I do not give into any school of thought. My thoughts are my own. Anyway, this is one of the first things Foreman and I have ever agreed on.

I don't hate authority, I just want it to leave me the fuck alone. You are easily manipulated by your fear. And, what the fuck is the ???kind??? bullshit? Because I don???t agree with you on one topic, I become ???one of those??? people?
I expected more from you than that witmaster.

Like I said... stay the fuck at home. You can drive anywhere you please and feel free to carry your toothpast with you :)

I think it's a little overboard. WTF? With all the business travel I do am I suppose to end up at the location with no makeup, hair done, looking like shit etc.. My makeup alone can cost close to 100.00 to replace, not to mention hair products and such. It's not like I can run to any old store and re-purchase these items. How the hell are we suppose to handle business travel. Everyone is going to end up smelly with bad breath and looking like ass! This is just fucking great.

Nice avatarmeow.

Let me inject an analogy here that I think we can all identify with???

This Forum is an excellent illustration of the recent events we have seen in the airport security system.

Back in ???the day???, this forum was a place where anyone could log in and freely express their thoughts, opinions, frustrations and anything else that tickled their fancy. Unfortunately, there were a few unscrupulous people who infiltrated the membership and chose to conduct themselves in a manner that was destructive to the forum. These individuals chose to engage in behavior that was damaging and degrading to the integrity that this venue was originally designed to uphold. As a result??? many people were attacked, offended, wounded, and driven off.

In response to this destructive behavior Rob was (essentially) forced to impose new rules and restrictions on the content that could be posted in the open forum. His Moderators, empowered to enforce these rules, have been studious to ???edit??? and/or ???Censor??? any content they feel is a breach of the guidelines and boundaries set by the forum rules. These rules apply to EVERYONE and not just the offending parties.

Many people complained about the new forum restrictions. Some people chose to leave entirely while others expressed gratitude for the new (clear) code of conduct. Some people actually went so far as to accuse Rob of infringing upon their 1st amendment rights but, the message clear??? Play by the rules or go elsewhere. Failure to abide by the rules will result in your being banned from forum usage. End of story.

The recent turn of events is not so different in principle. A group of individuals have found a way to exploit a weakness in the security system and they have demonstrated a clear desire to inflict as much death and destruction as can possibly be achieved. As a result, the presiding authorities have placed additional restrictions on EVERYONE to intervene in the terrorist???s plot.

It should be noted???. You CAN still travel with your personal hygiene products and liquids. You just have to check them with the regular baggage. The reason for this is because the X-ray/Metal detectors at the security checkpoints cannot detect the myriad of explosive compositions that the checked-baggage machines are capable of.

And there you have it. The policy of the airlines.
"If you don't like it, stay the fuck at home".

And when we did stay the fuck at home and the airlines couldn't turn a fucking profit for almost 5 years in a row, good ole Uncle Sam bailed them out with tax dollars. Lol, we pay for the shit whether we ride it or not.

But, I am glad you said it because I knew that was the policy all along. It was just nice to finally hear you say it. The airlines are the perfect example of a cluster fuck business model. No customer service coupled with a "fuck you" attitude is why the government will always have to bail them out.

Wow.. I gave you more credit than that: Resort to name calling if you must, I'll stick to the topic.

..and I don't affiliate myself with a party either, I just particularly hate liberals. The democratic party has become a haven for ultra-liberals, so in turn I hate the democratic party. In the end, all politicians are self-serving assholes.. so no, I don't consider myself a "slave." I'm conservative.. Republicans pretend to be when it wins them votes. Same story for Bush: I liked him until he started being run by the polls. Now he's just another politician.:barf:

What do I think should be done? I say we make all muslims empty out all of their shit. Muslims only. Don't like it? Tough shit, don't fly. All Muslims aren't terrorists, but all terrorists ARE Muslim. The minute we stop this bullshit political correctness the safer we are going to be.

The pilots and mechanics cannot be faulted for this. The reason for the drain of tax dollars are the CEO's, and COO's that have golden parachutes and huge bonuses. Take that shit away and the airlines could probably break even.

When they told me to get rid of all the liquids I had on me I obeyed......I let all my pee out.

True Story, I shot a huge load all over the security guards face, then boarded the plane.

Your ignorance is only overshadowed by your blatent stupidity in these matters.

I'd pity you but you are too blind to know otherwise.

I'm sorry kelju, but that was witmasterowned!!!

Please give the woman back there lip gloss and make up. For long flights they're gonna need it.

J/k!

Seriously though, Jesse Ventura said it best, that if you gave him and him old SEAL buddies snipers they'd be able to terrorism this whole nation. So why take away basic freedoms for things you can't stop?
