Biography
A giant of a man, Nathan Jones represented Australia in the strongest man in the world competition in the USA, this involved a lot of lifting and pushing, as a result of this he was enrolled in the WWF training school where he excelled, due to not being able to obtain a green card to follow through his wrestling career he returned to Australia. A former bodyguard to entrepreneur and money man supremo Rene Rivkin, Nathan lives in Sydney and continues to train every day. In a newspaper interview in Melbourne Australia recently he told a wide eyed female journalist : "The most I have ever lifted was 500 kilo's" Eager to be a part of the WWA tour he has befriended the advance tour part already and is ready to appear in all shows in the tour, he will take on Ken Shamrock in the Pay Per View event in Sydney. Nathan Jones started with UPW in late 2000, flying himself out from Australia to California at the suggestion of WWF's Kevin Kelly . His size immediately made an impression. Once you get to know Nathan though, there's so much more that impresses. Fiercely independent, incredibly articulate and intelligent and seriously driven, he's a man on a mission to succeed in life. A few months after starting at Ultimate University, Nathan debuted with tag partner Jon Heidenreich with none other than Jim Ross in attendance. After his match, Nathan pulled JR aside for a private audience as he cut one of his own unique brand of excellent promos. A WWF development deal soon followed. Unfortunately, due to working visa restrictions, Nathan was unable at the time to get the paperwork necessary to work in WWF. Nathan, a legitimately skilled martial artist, debuted for Zero-One in Japan in January of this year. His opponent -- none other than the big boss, the legendary Shinya Hashimoto in the pay-per-view show's main event. Nathan seems destined for pay-per-view success. After debuting with impressario Andrew McManus' World Wrestling All-Stars (WWA) on their inaugural tour in 2001, and getting the benefit of on-the-road experience from veterans like Brett Hart, Nathan was moved up to main event status. On Saturday, April 6, Nathan captured the WA Heavyweight Title in a four-corners match with perennial squared-circle stars Scott Steiner, Jeff Jarrett and Brian Christopher. A great guy, and a great talent, Nathan's future looks exceptionally bright!
His UPW Bio
He is staggering in appearance; this behemoth of a mat beast-towering over any of UPW's most intimidating monsters and as the World's Strongest Man; frightful in his ability to destroy as well. Brought in by Rick Bassman to complete his Ultimate Power group; Nathan Jones brings an arsenal of raw tools with him that are sure to dominate and devastate our federation for many months to come and with a future potential whose scary surface has only begun to be scratched. Raised on a farm on the Gold Coast of the down-under continent, Jones recalls discovering special physical powers as a kid; hauling large bails of hay, buckets of water and heavy utensils impossible to lift for pairs of otherwise strapping adults. Although a natural at team rugby, his large size prevented him from competing in most other sports, ("I was always about a foot taller than the other lads and would barrel them over and hurt them unintentionally"). Yet as he moved through his teenage years Nathan took to powerlifting; a safer way to use his ungodly strength in a manageably mortal way. Breaking numerous records wherever he hoisted a barbell in his native land, Jones was soon acknowledged as the most awesome physical specimen around, leading him to a slot and shocking upset victory on the 1995 World's Strongest Man competition, an event those unfamiliar with his frightening potential doubted he could make a dent in. "They all told me that it would take at least a few years to have any chance of winning against the likes of powerhouses like Magnus Magnusson and Gary Taylor but I began to prove them wrong immediately as I won one event after another with ease", boasts this massive yet quietly intimidating gargantuan. With that prestigious accolade in hand now, Jones comes here to UPW with not only the obviously unmistakable prowess visible to the even semi-blind naked eye, but with a secret ability, unknown to many, to outmaneuver them mentally as well. Often seen spouting classical couplets of poetry in quiet corners, this self-assured behemoth can also boast intellectual prowess too, having attained a prestigious university degree in Financial Markets; and now perhaps ready to challenge even his bent-on-evil UPW benefactor, Rick Bassman, to a hostile takeover of his emerging financial empire. "The whole wrestling world had better be on guard for I am out to control them!" shouts this freakily awesome mental and physical specimen and given his dreaded impact and feared reputation already here as an Ultimate Powers enforcer, even those controlling this super-monster had better not turn their backs for even the briefest of moments!
