I find myself kind of angry that I have paid 1080 Dollars in multi vitamins for the past 36 months (three years). I use the multi vitmain pack from GNC (green foods), which costs me 30 dollars a month, I started using it so long ago and I stuck to it, I like it a lot..but recently I have read a lot of stories that indicate that these viatmin companies are over rated and that we dont really dont need that much vitamins....I am an experienced lifter and serious about bodybuilding, but im also ona budget and paying 30 dollars a month for multis is starting to burn my wallet...Should I continue to use these (which I dont mind if they are worth the money) or should I switch to some of the other that you guys use, plase advise from experienced people who walked the walk for years...

I am currently putting a lot of effort into eating a healthy diet, and I haven't felt better. I think vitamins are for people with a deficiency in their diet, and/or natural propensity to having a deficiency even with a good diet.

Even then, there is an argument that by isolating the so called active compounds from the food, and manufacturing them synthetically yields no supporting data that they actually do anything.

I bet a lot of people are just pissing those vitamins right out. I have taken expensive vitamins for months at a time. I even took B-complex injections for a while. I never felt a damn thing off of any of it.

so, I'll save my 30-50 bucks a month and spend it on veggies!

i heard some huge arnold looking guys over the years say flush the vitamins and powders and all the other crap down the toilet.
i alo hears some ripped huge guys saing the same, but they take a 1aday, extra C and E. thats it.
then there are the guys that spend all their money on powders and vitamins etc..
does all that stuff really work?
some say yes, some say no.
up to you i guess..

well thats what im trying to find out.....as far as powders...well I take protein powder as 2 meals a day and i know that works for sure, but i think im just gona switch to a one a day mens sport from costco and extra D and B

I might be going against the grain of alot of guys concerning vitamins, but i take centrum or one of those chewable vits after breakfast and before i go to bed. I dont fk with those bigass horse pill vitamins filled with binders and 500000 times the RDA.All i ever did with those is piss what looked like anti-freeze.I read a study a few years ago, stating alot of vitamins took to long to breakdown and were to far in your system to be useful.Maybe its changed since then, i dont know, so take it for what its worth.

There is no direct connection between your digestive system and your kidneys. If you are taking vitamins and your urine is a darker color then yes you are pissing them out. However you did digest them and they did pass through your bloodstream so it's not like they just passed through your digestive tract and didn't do anything.

A large reason for taking vitamins is they fight the free radicals in your body. Free radicals are unstable and chemically react with many things in your body like DNA. Over time this causes damage which eventually leads to aging, cancer and death. When a free radical comes in contact with the vitamin, the vitamin reacts with the free radical and neutralizes it. So you might piss it out but during its short circulation in your blood, it may have reduced the damage that free radicals are doing to you on a daily basis. You probably wouldn't notice any changes... it isn't really making you healthier or giving you more energy - it is just preventing cellular damage. Over a live time this can keep you younger and add years to your life while preventing major diseases.

... or at least that's the theory

I think you have vitamins confused with antioxidants. They aren't the same thing and the best antioxidants come from food.

Eh, it's like 10$ for a year's supply of multis. If I'm pissing it out, oh well. If I'm benefiting, awesome. No big loss.
