She could use a vitamin C supplement on top of the one you got for her.

Diet is the key, the supplement is a stop-gap. Does she have habits that might compromise her health? Smoke, drink, take drugs? If she's thin, is her parents, siblings thin as well? Has she had a history of health problems?

Too little information to *really* help you, but yes, you have an adequate multi- vitamin. She could really use a multimineral supplement as well, if her diet is lacking whole foods - healthy fruits and vegetables.

I agree with trouble that she has an adequate supplent, but not really a great one. The C content is too low and B-Complex is not complete....

I buy all my vitamins and minerals separately.

And if you want the best complete combination of vitamins and minerals, you will need to go to a health food store and buy them seperately or get a 3-6 tab a day supp.

The least expensive Vit C is as good as the high priced stuff, and I look for 1 gram C with rose hips as this usually contains micro-fractions like Bioflavinoids and Rutin. Avoid "timed-release" as it contains more binders???also avoid buffered and Esther-C. Plain old Ascorbic Acid works best.

No Vitamin B supplement works anywhere near as efficiently as B complex vitamins derived from whole foods, so I don't skimp here and always get Solgar's "Megasorb 50."

Vitamin E should always be D-Alpha tocopherol???not DL. And it's best to have the beta, delta and gamma tocopherols added.

Look for ferrous fumarate as your iron source, as it is derived from wheat, and is one of the few forms of iron which does not interfere with absorption of vitamin E.

Cod Liver Oil should be the source for Vit A and D. The irradiated ergosterol forms are the kind that can prove toxic in mega-doses.

I also do not like minerals in gluconate form or derived from limestone, oyster shells, etc. Calcium lactate or citrate are best absorbed.

Look for a complete array of trace minerals. Overlooked, but important.

Last, but not least, I prefer capsules over tablets, as I am more certain of complete breakdown and absorption. Tablets contain binders that hinder absorption.

On B-12....most red meat eaters get more than enough B-12, and the addition of dessicated liver tabs provides all the B-12 the body can use. Cooked beef liver is probably even better.

Years ago I searched for a multi-vitamin that filled all my requirements. THe closest I found (about 12 years ago) was a 6 tab a day product called "Omniplex." A friend of mine was a long distance truck driver and asked my advice on the best multi to take on his trips. He said these provided a dramatic energy increase.

You can find some really good vitamins at Wal-Mart and Meijer's except it's hard to know which unknown brand is good and which is junk. There is a major company which is maker and supplier of very high quality Co-enzyme-Q-10 and they have their excellent product under the patented name "Q-sorb" You can buy half a dozen off-brands that list their C-Q-10 as "Q-sorb 30" or "Q-sorb 50." I shop for the least expensive and it cuts the price sometimes down to a third of what a major vitamin supplier like Carlson's asks, and they are just repackaging the same "Q-sorb" from the same supplier.

On the other hand, I like to go with a name brand like Barlean's and Carlson for oils as quality control, proper refrigeration and freshness are imperative here. I see flax oil unrefrigerated at on the vitamin rack at Wal-Mart, and wouldn't take it if they were giving it away. Rancid oil is worse than none at all.

I have seen independent lab tests on several products from Solaray and Solgar and they were outstanding. I would trust anything supplied by a vendor as highly regarded as Beverly International, but I am loathe to buy many "off-brand" vitamins off the grocer shelves, not because they are junk, but rather because I have no sort of guarantee as to quality pro or con. Remember, vitamins are not regulated like other food items.
