Hi guys,
I have a few questions about weight gainers:
1. I've heard that, even though some weight gainers claim to have lots of complex carbs and not much sugar, they have lots of maltodextrin, which is a "crappy" complex carb. Is this true? What's wrong with maltodextrin? Looking at the ingredient list for a lot of weight gainers, it seems the majority have maltodextrin as the first carb listed.
2. The age-old question: what's the best weight gainer, in your opinion? Yes, I know that making your own is ideal, and in fact, I *do* make my own using the usual ingredients (oats, natty peanut butter, olive oil, ice cream, etc.) when I'm at home. However, it would be convenient for me if I could also have a good weight gainer at work, where it's obviously impractical to have the above ingredients, as well as a blender. I've heard some good things about ON and cytogainer, but I've also heard some people say that these are no good...
Please don't give me the "all weight gainers suck" line. I know they're not as good as real food, but that's why it's a "supplement" -- its a conveient addition to real food for me, not a replacement for it. So if anyone's had a good experience (or bad!) with a given weight gainer, or can give me advice otherwise, I'd be glad to hear it.
Cheers!
