The price of oil goes up today, the price at the punp goes up tomorrow. The price of oil goes down today, it takes on the ave of 2-3 months for it to go down at the pump. Heard this on Rush's program this morning.

Here's one for you. The amount of fuel it takes to fill up a 747 jet, you can fill up 2000 SUV's

daaaam - difference is, the 747 will cover considerably more distance and hundreds more passengers than a SUV. i think it's unfair comparison.

That is why I sold my 747 last month

I've read something that suggests everyone in the US to stop buying from the two largest gas companies to start a price war. It could work, but no one would actually do it.

I'm sure airlines are getting some good business, though. Time to invest in airlines when the gas prices go up, people.

Whoopy for me that 77% of Hawaii's electricity is fired by oil, everytime the electric bills climb my business climbs.:hot:

I am not siding with oil companies, but I would like to point out that oil companies profit margin is much lower than other companies that are ripping you the fuck off everyday. So, why bitch about oil?
The profit margin for oil companies right now is about 8% where the profit margin for most name brand clothing is closer to 400%. I will see people wearing Tommy Hillfigure or what the fuck ever is popular these days while bitching about how much it cost to fill up their fucking Tahoe. Wtf!

The following list shows some of the year's highest grossing companies and their profit margins:
DeBeers Diamonds - 80%
Norilsk Nickel RAO - 49%
Intel Corp - 31.2%
Microsoft - 30%
GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals - 23%
Amgen Inc Pharmaceuticals - 30%

The list goes on and on. Profits do not mean shit. Profit margins mean everything. If you buy a diamond ring, you will be bleeding from the asshole after the ass fucking you and your pocket book receives. Pharmaceutical companies are nothing more than drug dealers these days, and look at their profit margins. It is also notable to mention that the pharmaceutical companies also have one of the highest growth rates of any company last year. That means they are pumping insane amounts of cash back into the company, and they still have 30% profit margins to boast.

The above list of people is fucking you in the ass a hundred times harder than big oil. The only reason big oil catches hell is because the demand for oil is out of control. Nobody is willing to stop driving their Ford "Fuck You" Mobiles to work everyday instead of carpooling. Mass city transit is a joke in most cities. We are pissing of OPEC every other day of the week. Environmentalist won't let us drill for new oil. Nobody is taking energy conservation seriously.

I will take a gander that 95% of the members on this board are guilty of most of the things I listed above. If you are guilty of these things, you automatically lose your right to bitch about gas prices.

KelJu - I'm allowed to bitch about prices. Have you seen how much it costs in the UK?

My remarks were directed towards people in the US.
Countries in the UK are much better about conservation than we are.

KelJu - sorry

In the UK, we're in crisis anyways now regarding what power sources to use.

I want to see people pay $4 per gallon.

That would great. And, hilarious.

True Story, profit margins are an important factor, but so is supply and demand.

I don't agree with sweatshop clothes being glorified by mtv, and sold for huge profits either. I see fags sporting their ghey american eagle shit all the time.

I am not guilty of those things. I do see what you are getting at, but the prices I pay at the pump directly affects me every day, and is a big part of my budget every month, and I have no choice but to buy it. There is a huge difference in spending money on things you WANT, and spending it on things you NEED. That is why so many people bitch about it. If things I want go up in price, I simply don't buy them. It is not the same with fuel.

Buying fuel efficient cars could cut your gas bill in half.
Carpooling could cut it in half again.
Public transit could knock your gas bill out completely (if available in your area)
There are things that can be done.

On the other hand, my grandmother and mother can't survive without their medication. Pharmaceutical companies are taking advantage of people who have no choice but to pay for the medication, but no one is saying shit about that. It doesn't make sense to me.

Gas is a need, medication is a must.

My truck gets 8 miles to the gallon - I win fuckers.

I agree, the price of Medical care and prescription drugs are a huge problem in the US. They have been for a while. I just think the gas problem affects more people right now (though not in a critical sense).

Public transportation would change my 45 minute commute to and from work to a 4 hour commute (and it's not free). I don't carpool because no one I work with lives by me and/or works the same shift. I don't complain that much about the gas prices. I just simply plan my trips out more. But I do think it is a legitimate gripe for people.

If I take public transportation that subjects me to a larger number of germy people that could make me sick, than if I just drove alone, there by causing me to spend more on doctors and medicine.
