Not 100% accurate, but as accurate as any other measurement, more accurate than most, and way more accurate than the impedance scales.
Best is the mirror.... I've I've got abs while relaxed then I know it's 10 to 15%. Right now I can barely see them standing up relaxed so I know it's closer to 20%. Tape measure tells me it's 18%. and I don't get to cut until February.

I had the same question and was referred to the BF Calipers. they are pretty cheap, picked mine up at a GNC just because it was close. $19.00 comes with a chart and pinch points.
3 point caliper. I dont do it the trainers do. Its free when we get below 7 we do ultrasound but thats 30 bucks and most of the time unless in comp prep is not needed.
