I have been trying to read as much as I can over the last month or so, and I am still in the dark.

I am 39, and have been back in the weight room after some time off and gains lost.

I am taking creatine and MetRx Glut. with Arganine along with whey.

I do have a pretty high BF% probably near 20.

Should I consider the Prohormone route? I think I read where some help with lowering BF%??

I've not gained much mass in the time I have been back in the gym but I can tell a difference for sure.

Thanks for any advice, want to try and get a little ripped before heading off to the Rest home ;)

Bcaa's before during and after your training
ICE and Vendetta from Extreme formulation's and Nitronix from VPX.
i add 5-10 grams bcaa's extra cause of my bdy wt.
i buy mega bcaas from BlackStar labs.

The dual objectives of gaining mass and losing bodyfat can be very hard to achieve. To put on decent mass you need to eat above maintenance and to drop bodyfat you need to go under maintenance calories. In you position I'd set one overwhelming goal, fat loss or mass building and work on that. Although prohormones can help save muscle while dieting I wouldn't recommend them at this stage. Focus on a good clean diet, avoiding processed carbs. Eat slow burning/fiberous carbs, high quality protein and moderate amounts of 'good' fats.

In addition to lifting weights I'd also suggest some form of cardio to help burn fat. As for supplements I'd stick with the basics like whey, creatine etc.

Flexin, definitely try to eat a clean diet and have a good resistance training program (along with cardio). As redspy has said, eat under maint. to lose weight/bodyfat. Usually, you drop around 500 cal. below maint. to lose weight. I, personally, would do it in increments (e.g., 200 cal. first week, 300 cal. second week, until 500 cal. reached). You might want to try to use a supplement like LS7. I bought a month's worth, 180 caps. I took my first dose of two caps 30 min. ago. The bottle says to start out with two caps/2X daily for the first week. I guess I need to build a tolerance for the supplement. Anyway, I lost 10-12 pounds on Clenbuterol/Ephedrine;2 days on/2 days off, for four weeks I did that. It was rough, but I made it through. IP Clen wurx (200 mcg)! I hope you reach your goal, but try it the natural way first. Good luck, bro! :thumb:

I totally agree with redspy. If you can, get a heart rate monitor or use a machine at the gym that has one. Do moderate intensity cardio (60-70% max heart rate) for 30 min. first thing in the morning with only BCAAs and water in your stomach. Some caffeine or thermogenics wouldn't hurt either. Lean System 7 is good for this. I suggest you focus on getting the BF down to 15-16%, then worry about adding muscle. Tank316 mentioned ICE. This is a great product to take before cardio to prevent muscle breakdown.

Priceless information. :thumb:

Thanks for all the good info.

I try and read as much as I can before adding posts here.

I have been eating pretty clean for the last couple of months. Not much processed food.

I will start lowering the cal. intake gradually. I have been mainly lifting 4 days a week on the GOPRO plan. Not doing as much Cardio., mainly walking in the work I do. But will start adding it in.

Now as for buying the supplements (bcaa's ) some have discussed. I usually buy everything from Vit. World. I have some Ephedra free Hydro cut that I bought last month but haven't used any yet. Might be a good time to start?

Can I find the items there or would there be a online source that is better (like Black Star or ??)

Thanks for the help

Forget Vitamin World and forget retail stores. Popular online stores here are bulknutrition.com, muscleshoppe.com, blackstarlabs.com etc and also checkout the board sponsors like allthewhey.com and milleniumfitness.com

Thanks Redspy

Will give those you mentioned a look.

Just use Vit. world because it's close and get the whey and multi-vits. there occasionally.

Do you have a personal pick of the ones you metioned?

Personally I like bulknutrition.com They're so fast it feels like they ship your stuff before you order it :-) They have a great selection of products. I also use blackstarlabs.com and customnutritionwarehouse.com.

Others here will have great recommendations too.

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones
Sounds like a plan, I will check em' out.

Any oher suggestions?

Also, check out allsportsnutrition.com. I've never had complaints.

Massnutrition.com has great prices, and I use them when they have the products I seek. Always satisfied with supps from them. The Hydroxcut is good, but there are generics with the same stuff for half the price. Again, I suggest Lean System 7 for a man your age with your goals.
