EL PASO, Texas ???
A 31-year-old woman, who did not want to be identified, invited KFOX14 News into her hospital room at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. She showed our crews how a large chunk of her buttocks had been removed.
She said her injury was the result of a vitamin B-12 shot that she was given by Angela Martinez.
"We're not sure exactly what it was,??? the victim said. ???(We don???t know) If it was the wrong needle, the way she did it, dirty hands or expired medication."
The victim said she???s gone through five surgeries in one week and during the first surgery, doctors told her husband it was a life or death situation.
The woman cried while she told us what she said doctors told her.
"I'm going to need plastic surgery,??? the woman said. ???I'm not the same anymore. They had to remove the whole area that she injected."
KFOX14 News sent two women undercover into Martinez???s home, posing as woman who wanted vitamin B-12 shots.
In the undercover video, Martinez does not ask the women about medical history or allergies. She prepares the shot immediately when the women walk in.
One of the women questions Martinez about sterilization and asks to see the packages of vitamin B-12. At that point Martinez asks both of them to leave and escorts them to the door.
KFOX14 News spoke to Martinez on camera.
???I have a nursing title, but it???s from Mexico,??? Martinez said. She claimed that she doesn???t need a license because she???s not practicing medicine. She also said that, while in the U.S., she???s never given shots to anyone except our victim and her children.
Our crews told her that the undercover women were with us and asked her about offering them the shots. Martinez said that she asked those women to leave.
As far as the woman in the hospital, Martinez said, ???She came to me and asked me to give her the shots.???
