So I went to the Apple store on Saturday and saw that their earbuds were $30 dollars. However, I've been through two pairs in the last year and at that price, it would make sense for me to shell out $80 dollars for the Bose version (which I also tried out the other day and we're excellent).

What type of head phones do you use?

What are the best head phones to use?

I've owned the same pair of Sony Headphones like this for 10+ years they have been sat on, sweated on, jammed into bags, used for thousands of hours and still sound great...I hate ear buds they make my ears sore after a while but I love the sound these come closest to them and I never have to worry about them falling out.....

The sound is great. But the part of the chord where it connects into the iPod is already starting to get frayed and worn when I've only had them for a couple months. :pissed:

Sox, are you talking about the large Bose headphones. That cover your whole ear?

The rubber they used on my headphone wire is like welding cable type it's super tough shit. Welding cable is made to resist years of abrasion from being dragged all over shop floors, having sparks shower on it and other abuses if I knew the exact model number I'd tell you guys. I am telling you these headphones are fucking resilient....

These ^

They're simply incredible.

$90 dollars with a 10% off sales promotion until January 17th.

But yea...

To much IMO. I'd be afraid I would snag them while lifting and rip the wires out. Although I have been using buds for years and that has never happened.

They are too expensive, but I've already broken my original Ipod headphones as well as the second pair I bought for $30 just a couple of months ago.

If these will for years, wouldn't it be wise to shell out the extra dough?

Got these for xmas. They are pretty good, but fall out of my ears on occasion. I had the Philips version of these before and they sounded similar, lasted quite a while, fell out less, and were $20.

Thanks Dale.

Phillips has some pretty sleek looking headphones. They were my number two to the Bose, the price difference and your opinion just might be all I need to ditch the getting the Bose $100 dollar head phones idea. Thanks!

Smokin Buds [SC-BUDB] : Skullcandy

they have fifteen buck pairs of these that are the best headphones Ive ever stuck in my ears for the price. im too clumsy to warrant 100 buck earbuds

I like wrap-around earphones. Earbuds pop out of my ears if I sweat and make facial contortions in the gym, so thats a no go. Maybe the above would work out ok though, but I still prefer the earphones that wrap behind the head, 20 bucks, they last a few months (snags are gonna happen).

I can barely make out the model of the ones I have but it looks like Sony MDR-W24, I bought these when I was in the Navy in 1998, I used to sleep with them on and any others I did that with would end up cracking or the wires would pull out these have lasted forever the plastic is bendable I could practicly tie it in a knot and it wouldn't break. Only problem I had was they got loose but I just pulled them all the way out put a couple nicks in the plastic and slid them back together and now they stay right at the perfect position for my head.....

I knew he was going to come in here and say that. ;)

Everything Bose sells is overpriced, they make decent stuff but you can get the same quality from a good brand but at half the cost.

Looks like mine are Sony MDR-G42, I got them for 15 or 20 bucks and its my second pair. They sound pretty good to me, I sometimes use them at night and of course always for the gym with my iPod. The cable is 4 feet long which is great because I am tall, although I usually have the iPod around my elbow anyway. The only reason this thing has died before was the cable getting snagged on things, mostly fixed by finding an arm carrier for the iPod video, when it was in my pocket I'd catch on things in the gym periodically.

Always stays on my head and has good bass, so it works for me!

I've heard great things about "skullcandy."

Thanks, Fish!

youre welcome dude, you may wanna pick a pair up to use at the gym and keep your nice ones for normal listening?

I'm definitely buying one or the other.

I don't listen through head phones unless I'm at the gym pretty much, so...

ahhh, well I have a good reason for myself to use cheaper ones, because the first pair I bought of these, I dropped a 100 pound plate on one of the buds, it didnt crack the shell of it at all, but just made it stop working.

I took it back and said it didnt work, hahaha. I didnt have a receipt and got new ones because they were under 30 bucks

Ohh man, over the course of the past year I've killed 4 sets of headphones. 2 blackberry ones and 2 ipod like ones that I picked up cheap. all of em either frayed or got snagged and fell into pieces.. My girl got me a new pair for christmas, and they sound great, and they're doing well so far.. Any advice on how to avoid snags

skull candy vote here. i have had a ton of headphones, and they are the best sounding ones i have owned. i have the titans, and they have an 11mm speaker in them. TiTan [SC-Titan] : Skullcandy

the only ones that are better are the full metal jackets

On another board, the same question is being asked.

So far there are numerous people who say that Skullcandy are trash and that you should shell out the $100 dollars to get a quality pair of Bose.. and then there are just as many people saying that Skullcandy are great.

What to do?

i have had a lot of bose equipment. car stereos, home theater setups etc, and they are over rated. they sound good.. for a while.. but their speaker quality is shit. i will never buy a bose item again. if i go home theater i will go klipsch. car stereo will be aftermarket stuff.

so im kinda biased against bose.. but honestly the skull candy's are the best i have had as far as head phones go. i have only had them since christmas so i cant comment on durability. however my titans sound 10x's better than my sisters smokin buds

Alright cool.

Whats the difference in price between the smokin buds, the titans and the full metal jackets?

smokin 29
titan 49
fmj 69

the cord on the fmj is braided metal it looks like. they should have a kiosk in your local mall where you should be able to go listen to them.

Thanks, P.

Even the highest quality skull candy are much cheaper than the Bose.

Seems like a no brainer...

opinions are all subjective, but i love mine, and i would buy another pair in a heartbeat.
