I guess you are just one of the unlucky people that can't do quads. I never had a problem with pain in them even the first time I pinned them. I've put up to 2 ml in mine without an issue. I always use 23g 1.5s to make sure I get deep in there. Its odd you don't get pain in other places with the same gear. Unless you get on a pin cushion cycle where you are pinning every day there is plenty other places to pin to get around it.
