5 Dead in Utah

I hate how the cops let em off easy by just killing him in the exchange. That's what the dude probably wanted. I wish their was some law where people who do twisted shit like this kid get tortured.

Wrong! Had I been there with my pistol, I would have shot him between the eyes after he fired the first shot. The lack of handguns by the innocent bystanders is why the ordeal was drawn out so far.

I read. I read every damn day of every damn week. I also watch educational videos and talk to informed people (which is a rare creature).

I can't help it. I'm hardwired to want to know everything.

The fact that you keep binders on the topics that interest you is very intelligent and very rare.

And you've gotta like the fact that there are ton of sources in the bibliography.

It would be nice if the author updated the information, though.

The person who took the scumbag out was an off duty cop from several towns away, so he was nothing but a civilian CCW holder. Too bad there were not a few more on hand.

Using cross-sectional time-series data for U.S. counties from 1977 to 1992, we find that allowing citizens to carry concealed weapons deters violent crimes, without increasing accidental deaths. If those states without right-to-carry concealed gun provisions had adopted them in 1992, county- and state-level data indicate that approximately 1,500 murders would have been avoided yearly. Similarly, we predict that rapes would have declined by over 4,000, robbery by over 11,000, and aggravated assaults by over 60,000. We also find criminals substituting into property crimes involving stealth, where the probability of contact between the criminal and the victim is minimal. Further, higher arrest and conviction rates consistently reduce crime. The estimated annual gain from all remaining states adopting these laws was at least $5.74 billion in 1992. The annual social benefit from an additional concealed handgun permit is as high as $5,000

One little problem I find. People who are for gun control are not very interested in the facts, the data, or history. The ignore all that in favor of emotional responses combined with a total ignorance of guns. "Don't confuse us with the facts" is the anti gun/pro gun control slogan. So, you can throw all the fact based web pages at them you want, all the studies you want, and all the historical context at them, and for good measure, some Second Amend facts at them, and they will ignore it.
