Justice League of America Movie Announced
jlabig2.jpg
Warner Bros. is aiming to make comic-book geeks around the world pee their pants. They have hired a team of writers to script a live-action feature film which will include most of DC Comics superhero line-up: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, the Flash, and more.

Kiernan and Michele Mulroney have been [1] hired to write a big screen Justice League of America movie. You might recognize their names, because they???re the hot Hollywood scribes of the month (they wrote a draft of the Kiefer Sutherland???s Mirrors which starts shooting in May).

The JLA first appeared in February 1960. The original line-up consists of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and the Martian Manhunter. But the team has gown to also include Green Arrow, Atom, Hawkman, Black Canary, Captain Marvel, Plastic Man, Zatanna and others. The Jusice League spawned several cartoon television series, including the cult 1960-70???s Super Friends. Justice League Unlimited is currently aired on the Cartoon Network.
The comic books usually have the heroes band together to fight alien forces or groups of supervillains.
It has been previously reported that both Christian Bale (Batman Begins) and Brandon Routh (Superman Returns) have contract options to star in a Superman vs. Batman movie. I wonder if Warner???s legal team could spin that stipulation into the JLA idea. The studio is also trying to greenlight a Wonder Woman film. I assume that the lead star???s contract will include a JLA option.
Warner announced this news on the heels of the New York Comic Con (which ramps up this weekend).
And to get you excited, check out the classic Fan Film titled World???s Finest. Made by Sandy Collora, the same guy who did Batman: Dead End.

wow! seems like a lot will be crammed in one movie. Hope they can do 'justice' to the script and not marginalise the charecters.

As much as I'd love to see it, this seems like a bad idea. It would be great if they took the time and money to do a film for each character, then do a JLA pic. Oh well. I'll take what I can get.

Spare me from another comic book movie.

Have you guys seen Smallville? They had an episode called Justice which included Superman, Green Arrow, Flash Gordon, Aquaman and Cyborg. It was pretty sweet!

I started seeing this year and it's pretty good.
I never payed it much attention because of the name so I didn't know it was about a young superman.

I think it's too many superheroes for one movie. What could possibly happen that would require so many superheroes to help out at once? The Batman vs. Superman idea sounds cool, but I think both movie series would need 2 or 3 more individual Batman and Superman movies before taking on such an idea.

It depends on who the main line up heroes will be. The only heroes that would really need any back story would be the Martian Manhunter, the Green Lantern, and maybe Aqua-man. Everyone already knows Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash. You could knock those back-stories out in a few minutes.

The X-Men had plenty of characters and it didn't suffer too much.

I hope that the Flash has his great sense of humor (and lack of responsibility).

Remember the Flash TV series? I used to love the show but they killed it because it was too costly, damn that sucked.
The actor protraying the Flash wasn't too bad, he was pretty witty.

Did you like that series Doms?

Hell yeah. Back in the those days, the superheroes on teevee tended to be perfect. They always knew the right (and best) ways to save the day. But not Flash. He screwed up a lot. Which made sense, he was new to being a superhero.

I wonder if they'll cast him in the movie? Probably not, he's too old.

Exactly, you get to see him in a not so perfect world.
He was just getting used to his powers........then they stopped the damn show.

Martian Manhunter has appearances in Smallville. They still haven't really shown much light to his character yet and unless you are a superhero nerd like me, you wouldn't even know it was him in Smallville right now  He keeps magically appearing and saving Clark's butt and then disappears. I think an episode dedicated to him is coming soon.

Mino - Smallville has been on for 6 years. I have all the ep's on dvd

Cool!

Green Arrow has had several episodes in Smallville this year. He's gone right now but he's coming back at the end of the season.

If they're is a spin-off, I'll watch it.

That'll bring the number of teevee shows I watch to 5.

Yeah but They changed Flashes name to something else, can't remember what it was but I was wondering where they got the name from?

Impulse....

That's because they are doing a movie with Flash so they couldn't use the same name.

That sux on so many levels. They shoulda used the press from smallville to promote the movie, then sung that momentum back at smallville. a double play that gets both franchises some play ... and we win too.

Go download it. It was great! I love the clip of them walking in an arrow formation with Clark in front. That's the best! Although if you haven't watched smallville then most of the episode won't make sense.

Each of those superhero's have been on smallville in the past. Funny thing is that in Smallville Lois Lane has relations with Aquaman and Green Arrow. Small twist they put on it.
