Anyone understand bit torrents?

I have used many torrents through the years.
Currently, I really like uTorrent.
It's nice.


goandykid, when you get that error, close bittorent, and go to your task list by hitting ctrl alt delete.

Click on the processes tab. If there is already an instance of bittorrent running, forcibly end the task.

I have had this problem in the past, where there is no UI open, but the program is still running in the background which causes errors and such.


Also your firewall could be blocking incoming connections...there's lots of things that could be wrong, but check what i said first.

I'm running airsnort which is a packet sniffer and kismet which collects WEP encryption keys on my Linux machine. I have a wardriving kit with a directional antenna. I then connected to their router and locked them out of it. I selected them, because they???re noisy assholes that leave their garbage outside their door for weeks at a time.

and utorrent is a pretty good client also. I have a version of Azureus that fake your upload so you want get kicked off the above sites or any other sites that make you maintain a ratio of at least 1.

the reason i use private tracker is because when u sign up u have to keep a ratio of 1 on most of them, so everyone tends to seed which increases the speed for everyone.

i have about a 4.5mb connection and i download torrents at about 450kbs which is a standard xvid of 750mb in about 40 minutes. also in countries like america you have more chance of being caught on public trackers. if your suing them peerguardian 2.0 might be an idea

The only pri tracker I use is FCZ ... speeds there are between 400 and 600kbps avg for me.

BTW, if anyone has a linksys router version WRT56G, WRT54GL, or WRT54GS I have a custom firmware upgrade that will boast your torrent downloads, and keep your router from being bricked constantly. It is a must have for people using bit torrent.

It is tricky to set-up, because you have to flash your router 3 times to get it working right, and you have to know the right version to flash with.
