I concur. There's a ton of these Magic/Pokemon card players at the college I go to (RIT), I've noticed a pattern regarding said players: NONE of them have girlfriends. I kinda feel sorry for them, but...whatever tickles their pickle.
I tried Magic and that money-drain of a game Pokemon cards when I was 13-14, I enjoyed it for a while... 
til I grew out of it and realized that I was throwing away money for cards that won't return an investment like a baseball card would (I didn't start buying b-ball cards either). I recently saw an ad for 180pounds worth of common Magic cards for 40 bucks at the cafeteria, all the 'Contact me with this number' slips were ripped off. Whoever gets the cards is lucky.
