73 looks dope.

Best UFC card ever.

Sylvia vs. Mir is a rumor at this point though. NSAC said they haven't been presented with Mir as an opponent for Timmay, and they would most likely not allow him to fight due to his last few performances.

Wait, he can't fight because he lost a couple of fights? :hmmm:

The NSAC has clarified the situation regarding the recent rumors that Frank Mir was denied a rematch with Tim Sylvia at UFC 74 this August. Here is what NSAC Executive Director Keith Kizer had to say regarding the fight:

???That fight has not been presented to me, and thus no ???denial??? has been made. I was asked about the match-up by a reporter and said I would have a hard time approving that fight unless I see a quality win from Mr. Mir first. However, I will keep an open mind. Please note that I approved Mir vs. Hardonk a short while back. I still think that would be a good match-up.???

It appears that the rumors did have a basis in that the matchup would be hard to approve (although not impossible) without Mir first facing a lesser known opponent. In their first matchup Mir won in a mere 50 seconds into the fight after an armbar by Mir broke the arm of Sylvia. In the wake of a motorcycle accident interim champion Andrei Arlovski was declared the undisputed champion stripping Mir of the title without ever defending it.

The fight was seen as a major draw for the UFC 74 event which is headlined by another major heavyweight battle with Randy Couture defending his newly won heavyweight title for the first time against Gabriel Gonzaga.

As of now this fight is in serious jeopardy but whether it is actually confirmed or denied is anyones best guess. Even if it is approved both fighters are nursing major injuries. Mir was forced with withdraw from the previously mentioned fight at UFC Fight Night 9 against Antoni Hardonk due to a shoulder injury while Sylvia recently had a successful back surgery.

Mirko decided to get the octagon as a replacement for the ring which he had so far in his training gym. His ankle is getting better and Mirko will be back in full training in a few weeks.

Good move.

Big Nog got no respect on the voting..... people are gonna find out how nasty a heavyweight he is. He'll be heavyweight champ of the UFC soon, provided Fedor stays away.

Diego Sanchez vs the field. Whats up w/ him next after that Koschek fight?

He may not be 100% yet.

Diego lost by decision to Josh Koscheck at UFC 69, ending his undefeated run, in a fight that was virtually all stand up. Predicted to be one of the best fights of 2007, the bout was slow paced, with very few exchanges. Going into the final moments of the 3rd round, Sanchez was expected to advance in aggression in order to attempt a win, but instead he remained timid, throwing very short, under powered jabs. Koscheck managed to keep Sanchez at bay with superior speed, footwork and wrestling until the bout timed out, to take the win on all three judges' cards.

Several weeks after the fight, Dana White announced that Sanchez was sick on the eve of the fight, and almost had to retire when a test came back indicating he had Hepatitis C. Doctors eventually concluded the test results were not correct, but could not diagnose his sickness, so the fight went ahead as planned. The day after the fight Diego had a hole in his thigh the "size of a coffee cup," and his sickness was diagnosed as a Staph infection.

Good move.

So his ankle did get fucked up huh..

Honestly I think I'm looking forward to Diego vs. Sakurai the most, followed by Kos vs. GSP.

Hendo vs Rampage

I wanna see a Pride champ own the UFC belt. One who is known as a champ from a LOWER division :roflmao:

I'd like to see Hendo take Rampage's and Silva's belts. :thumb:

Hunh? Hendo holds the Pride 185 pound and 205 pound weight class belts. He just took Silva's belt ... I'm confused. I know you know this so I guess I just missed your point somehow. It's like 3:33 am and I'm all :mooh: headed anyway.

He took Wanderlei's belt, now he needs to take Anderson's. ;)

See I was in brainfart mode ... lol. I don't count all the guys like AS with a belt as true champs, so he didn't even enter my mind as a contender for Hendo.

Hendo does have a shot to own four belts now. ... Insanity. LOL Dana White must be shitting his drawers trying to derail this potential Pride owning the top UFC belts thing.

:roflmao: ... UFC buys Pride then gets owned by Pride fighters ... :roflmao:
