The cop found the bag of alcohol and asked where we got the alcohol. My mom said "I don't know we don't have alcohol in the house" . So they knew right away we got it from someone.

And ok we made a mistake I realize that.

I was actually hoping for someone to tell me what is going to happen in court. It is a gross misdeaminor.

Were not going to get a lawyer for sure. Were hoping for a public defender. Im just wondering what you guys think the punishment will be for my sister.

Shes only 19. So shes still a minor.

where can you get BAGS of alchol?? around here they only sell them in bottles...:hmmm: weird area. anyway ur a snitch and i would have fucked u up. BTW i cant help you anymoe but if this happens again say a bum baught it for you. also how did u get caught? where you walking around drinking it?

I see your point but lets face it teens will get their beer/alcohol no matter what if that is their goal, so I don't see that as being the issue here, when someone helps you out with something like that and you know they were taking a risk you don't rat them out, that is just plain stupidity, it's not street smarts, it's just fricking common sense. A cop asks you where you got your alcohol, ummm, my sister got it for me Mr. Officer! :suicide:
I have told my GF's daughters friends that if they ever find themselves drunk not to even attempt to drive, to just give me or my GF a call, no matter what time of night, and would come and give them a ride. I've promised them I wouldn't tell a soul that I just want to be sure they're safe. I lost a friend to drunk driving in High School and even back then I was always a designated driver for my friends because I didn't drink. They have always told me that if it wasn't for me they might have ended up like our friend. The thing is that they all respected me for not drinking and knew what a good friend I was for keeping them out of trouble when they were plastered. I could probably get in trouble for not telling anyone that I have had drunk teens in my car and never reported them but I really don't see the point in some kid needing all of that trouble just for doing something that I know most adults did when they were that age...and I never did.

"I found it in a ditch, officer."

You are an idiot.

he said he was "too drunk to lie" so his judgment was impaired. too drunk to care about a condom? too drunk to realize he shouldn't be driving? too drunk not to choke on his own vomit? i really don't see helping kids get drunk as doing them any favor.

LW, you know I love you, but I am disagreeing with you on this one. I drank since I was 14. We had older friends that would buy for us. My brother was 5 years older than me, and any of his friends would buy for me. Its just how teen culture works. We sat around a campfire and drank and had a good time. There is nothing else to do in a small town. The government says at 18, I can be drafted and sent to die for the political gains of politicians, yet I can't drink a beer? Fuck that! I knew that was bullshit, and so did all of my friends.

Its an unwritten law that if someone trust you enough to buy you beer, you should be responsible enough to own up to the consequences if you get caught. His sister bought him beer out of love and trust. Now I'm not busting is balls anymore, he really does seem to be destroyed about this.

Buying beer for a younger friend or relative is really an act of kindness. They know they they are taking a huge risk, but they do it anyway out of love or admiration.

LW, I think the reason you are so against it is you have 2 young kids that you do not want people buying beer for, because you are in that motherly protective state of mind right now. Just try to think back before you had kids. Its different when they aren't your own kids because I think the protective neural circuitry isn't really activated until you see your own flash and blood for the first time.

i see what you're saying but honestly i never would have bought booze for my brothers. sometimes saying no is the more loving thing to do. it's simple, "could this cause harm to the person?"

my mom let me start drinking and smoking pot at 15. she also let me drop out of school and date guys in their twenties. i felt pretty cool at the time but in hindsight she was a shitty parent.

by the time my brothers were old enough to be asking for booze i'd had my mom call me about four of the kids i partied with. Patty Carlson choked to death face down in her own vomit... and they couldn't find all of my friends body parts at the scene of an accident that killed 3 drunk high school kids. saying "no" seemed like the right thing to do after that.

btw in most states it is perfectly legal to let your own child drink at home under your supervision. let someone else's tho n you're fucked.

Eh, its hard to say. One time she bought for them? Ok, boys will be boys, but if it was a lot of times? I dont know. Depends. How much does he drink? What does he do when hes drunk?

If its just a couple times a year, then big deal.

Damn. Thats a pretty good observation.

if she's 19 then isn't the question who gave HER the booze? And then that person is FUBARed, not her

EXACTLY. I dont know how many countries we have on IM but in the USA its 21 to drink in all states. Her sister wasnt contributing really...there are bigger fish to fry. Get a lawyer and thats the first thing theyll attack. There may be other details that are fucking with you, but the case should be dropped.

Oh yeah, even though you are a rat, did you write anything or was it verbal admission? Anyone else write anything? If not, how much of an asset is a drunk 17 year old's testimony going to be? This is where you say you dont remember saying what you said. You were drunk right? Now when I was 17, my idea of drunk wasnt like it is now...but you said you were getting sick, so that sounds like enough for me. So! Its safe to say that your judgement was off and that you didnt know nor remember what you said. "So then who got the booze?" Hah, choose any excuse you got in here. They cant prove that she bought it nor that it was in her possesion IF you say you dont remember. For all they know, your mom couldve gotten you drunk from an open liquor cabinet that she 'forgot' she had...

I am surprised everyone is preaching about not being a rat in here and not in my thread. Both charges are misdameanors too.. :(

oh, please,..it's just alcholol. everyone involved will get off with a slap of the wrist. nobody's gonna do jail time for alcohol, that's absurd.

just keep your mouth shut next time, k?

No...they know exactly what happened. They even got video footage of the girl buying our booze. They sure went all out to figure this stupid little case out. My sister already confessed the whole story to the cops.

You sure they have a vid or did they say they had a vid? You already know cops are liars.

If she confessed, then thats that. However, if even theres a vid of someone getting the booze then the vid will prove that it was not her that purchased it.

See...this is why I totally hate cops. Cops are supposed to be catching _criminals_. Not stupid drunken teenagers.

Yeah the cop showed us a picture of the girl buying the alcohol.

Damn, I never want to get cops involved in anything. It seems like they just make everything worse.

Bahhhhhhh wrong answer. They are absolutely required to catch stupid drunken teenagers AND who ever sold them the booze. I personally require that of them. As the father of a stupid drunken teen I want to know who he got the booze from then I want their asses in jail.

The leading cause of dead teenagers ... 44% ... is from traffic fatalities. In 2005, 23% of drivers ages 15 to 20 who died in motor vehicle crashes had a BAC of 0.08 g/dl or higher (NHTSA 2006b). In a national survey conducted in 2005, nearly 30% of teens reported that within the previous month, they had ridden with a driver who had been drinking alcohol. One in ten reported having driven after drinking alcohol within the same one-month period (CDC 2006b). In 2005, among teen drivers who were killed in motor vehicle crashes after drinking and driving, 74% were unrestrained (NHTSA 2006b).

I've been arrested for consumption/possession of alcohol by a minor a few times in the past.

The maximum year and $3000 dollar BS is exactly that, a maximum and bullshit to boot.

She'll have to do some community service, perhaps take an alcohol class or two, be on probation, etc. but she won't end up in jail.

Still man, I cannot fucking believe you ratted on your sister.

Overlooked in all of this is how fucking dumb your parents and your friends parents are.

Who cares if stupid teenagers die? Saves me money.

If the cops here busted you drunk and underage, they would just tip out the booze and give you an ear bashing. Seriously going to court over that is completely fucking stupid

Tell me about it.

I would just say I didn't do anything if I were her. She didn't buy it, so she didn't commit the crime. I would say your a liar and she doesn't what the f#ck they are talking about.
