Vick's problem has been identified

it's ironic the public outcry on a breed that most politicians want banned.

We for one love pits, even though Scooby attacked Min0.

His mindset is not the same as that of other people. He just sees them as animals bred for a purpose same as chickens on a chicken farm. People who love dogs are mostly the people in the outraged hang the prick group.

I love dogs and all animals in general but I'm more in favor of following the system then getting bent up over this one issue. We don't throw the book at first time offenders on minor violations and since this is his first criminal charge as an adult he deserves the same thing you or I would get as first time offenders.

If he had been busted for child molestation then fuck yeah hang him by his balls and set his head on fire.

Face it folks. He's not a child molester and he's not cooking up crack, slaughtering people, or any of a million serious crimes. It's dog fighting. Inhumane? Yup. Equal to plundering the 401k of ENRON employees? Not even a distant 100th place runner up. In some states it's even classified as a misdemeanor. He doesn't deserve to be maxed out on this, and he deserves to get his job back when he's done paying his dues.
Personally I feel he should be hung by his throat, slit open and left to die. People like him don't deserve to live, nevermind have a job.

Why should he lose his livelihood? I like the rest of it, but why lose his job?

well....because he is a celebrity, role model, public figure, or whatever you want to call it, and I believe that he has a responsibility to not commit felonies and get put into jail, especially for such a heinous crime.

I agree with both post a 100% :thumb:

This may sound stupid but I never saw pitbull fights in my life, I knew it existed but it was always on the downlow, hidden from the general public.

Now on some rap videos you see all these guys with pits, some in the process of fighting them but not showing at of it.

Now I drive thru NYC and I see it happen on the streets in broad daylight....kids pitting pits.
I was approached a couple of times to fight my pits.

I disagree, and this is the very point that brings out the outrage. A person who preys on children, the elderly or domesticated animals is a special type of deranged. These are all basically defenseless creatures that rely on us for their very survival. To then take them and torture them mercilessly, eventually to death, deserves a special kind of punishment.

You have to be a psychopath to fight dogs. A psychopath doesn't feel other people's pain and lacks the ability to empathize with others. You would have to be a psychopath to fight pits to the death, train them to be killers, and kill the ones that don't make it. Any person that can do that is a person I do not want to live around me, and I sure as fuck don't want to watch them on TV.

We go to the movies and pay rental fees for movies with actors in them that are just as bad or worse. This guy is an entertainer ... period. We wind him up, stuff a few million in his bank account a week ... then send him out to perform for us.

He doesn't owe his livelihood to us or society for this. He's just another entertainer that got busted doing illegal immoral unethical crap. He's not my son's idol. If he was then I completely failed as a parent in which case it would make no difference at all any way.

All that is still not as important as the idea of justice. The guy who is a committed pro-life antiabortionist cannot make laws governing abortion to suit his personal ideology. The law has to serve the rights of every ideology. This is no different. Animal lovers range in commitment to the rights of animals. Some say hunting is abhorrent and that vic should get sent to jail. Others say Vic should go to jail as they eat venison steak
they killed.

I guess what I'm saying here is that the law has to serve society as a whole not just the extremes of its belief. There is a crowd of people that say he should not get arrested at all and that the laws should be changed to allow dog fighting. It's popular in his subculture ...

There was an argument a while back about saving a person or saving your pet. Remember that one?

Vaguely, but I don't think that applies here. That situation involved the INADVERTANT circumstance that two creatures were in danger. Which would you save? Vick's situation is completely different. He intentionally took defenseless creatures and tortured them to death. He's a sick sick man and deserves an equally sick punishment.

I'm not referring to the specifics of the situation but rather the general division of people's emotional investment in the argument. I think some people even left IM over that one. This is the same in that people's emotional perspectives will get the better of them in how they see what should be done while the actual servicing of justice would take a second place finish.

Jodi and brother K your posts illustrate my point perfectly. The depth of your feelings about this will never be reached or open to change. Lol ... imagine the laws if you two ... two of our most respected IM leaders ... were to get your hands on them. You both made it very clear that Vic would be executed for animal rights violations.

Okay, point taken.

But back on track, what do YOU think should be done to Michael?

Yeah I know. Give me a few days to cool off, and I could see straight again. It just kills me that people abuse another emotional creature that feels pain like we do. It makes me sad at first, then it makes me mad as hell.

Also, I remember the thread where a few members got made and left, because they thought humans were so much more important than animals, and thought we were fucked in the head for choosing our family pet over a stranger. That thread was pure gold.

Damn straight! And I've always felt that way too! Eye for an Eye!

dude, if you don't see how and why fighting dogs and killing them in inhumane ways with your bare hands is sick, wrong and deranged maybe you're on the same level as Vick.

I believe that treating domesticated animals this way is one step away from treating humans this way, so if he is capable of torturing and killing dogs I don't think it would be too difficult for him to do the same to a human.

Funny how he was innocent until backed into a corner with his buddies turning on him, now suddenly he is sorry, found Jesus, etc. However, not once in his public apology did he say a thing about the animals that were tortured and killed. It was all a crock of shit, he had no other options and his lawyers probably wrote that entire speech he gave.

I think he should get 1 year in prison, expelled from the NFL permanently, a nice sized fine that will be donated to the humane society (and this fine should be relative, meaning if the normal person would get a $1,000 fine Vick should get a $1 million dollar fine). Once out of prison he should be on 12 months of probation and required to serve around 300 hours of community service working at a local animal shelter. And of course be required to pay back whatever he owes to his team since he cannot fulfill his contract. Lastly, required to complete around 6 months of counseling specifically addressing his desire to torture and kill animals.
Glad I wasnt the only one that noticed it.

I am with Kel. My dog means more to me than anyone. In fact, I miss her the most up here. :(

the bottom line is Vick is only sorry for one thing, that he got caught and his life is turning to shit, this is the scary part, he has no remorse for the animals and that is what makes him a piece of shit and a deranged human being that needs punishment and help.

Honesty

I spent some time thinking over what Vick did. I also thought about what I would do if conditions in the country were to my liking. I think that I would do things that would make what Vick did look like shit.

Therefor, I guess I have no valid opinion on what he did.

It's somewhat amuzing how these wrong doers "find jesus" and we are suppose to magically forgive them. Fuck that! I still say kill the fucker!

If he had to find Jesus, does that mean he was hiding?

Back on topic: Kill the fucker. In the same way the animals were killed imo. Need to start making examples of some of these shitbags so we might possibly avert the paths of future potential shitbags.

He is a lier, a fake, and a piece of shit human being. Saying he found god is just what you say when you get arrested. IT doesn't cost you anything to say it. I don't care if he found Jesus, Allah, Budda, or who the fuck ever. He is a plague among humanity, he obviously has no feelings for anyone other than himself. He is a typical selfish fuck, and I hope he gets aids in prison from being raped in the ass for what he did.

Amen.

If you took from my defending the rights of due process, equal prosecution, and balance of crime and punishment that I think what Vic did was cool then maybe you're an idiot. There is no where in here that I said or implied that I'm ok with dog fighting or the cruelty he showed those animals. Matter of fact I even agreed with your thoughts on what he should receive as a punishment with the exception that I disagree about his losing his livelihood over this. How does that translate into me being the dirtbag Vic is?

There would be no way I could see the evidence in a court room and then be the judge. I can maintain my emotional detachment and look at the legal issues from a philosophical perspective just fine, but in a court of law I'd lose that detachment and he'd be screwed.

I can't even look at LW's link. I can look at the videos of those guys that got their heads sawed off more easily.
