Is rock'n'roll officially dead?

I was obviously joking...well I would think it was obvious

no one likes Nickelback, and everyone knows that.

ok good, because previous to what I thought was a statement made by you regarding how much you liked nickelback,

I respected you.

Good to know it was a joke, because I like you. :kissu:

Fuckers you went to the Empire Games? Let me guess, it was at Marist College. God damnit how come no one tells me these things :(

This was a couple of years ago lol. It was pretty cool, but i caught a speeding/tint ticket on the way home.

My basic point was that when i was young i thought that too, but when you grow up and go places beyond your immediate area/neighborhood and meet different people, you'll realize how different people out there will surprise you.

I know it was a couple of year ago

I go to Marist and was a sophmore at the time. We got very odd looks from the security guys there when we were playing cross-campus capture the flag in camo gear.

Where in NY are you from?

Thats cool man.

I wouldn't mind living out there (upstate i mean) or in Jersey or something one day. I enjoy places like that. I basically grew up in Brooklyn so i think when i'm ready i would love to live somewhere peaceful but still close enough to the city to be able to go there whenever.

I enjoyed the scenery and general atmosphere up there quite a bit on the occasions that i've been out there.

I do like the area - if I stay around here, I'm going to hopefully land a job with Morgan Stanley's Westchester branch. Thats my #1 goal in this area, otherwise I'd like to try living out west or maybe in North Carolina's area.

Danny, you really gotta get out more bro. Its only in NYC that you don't get too much exposure to rock, and thats if you hang with 'gangstas.' Hell i didn't really start listening to rock until maybe 5 years ago, because i was never exposed to it. In NYC, you get 92.3 Krock and 104.3 Classic Rock, where as you have hot 97, z100, KTU, power 105.1, and a bunch of all reggaeton stations. You leave the state (or even travel upstate) and the picture is completely reversed. You can ask P-Funk if he remembers. We went to the empire games together (poughkeepsie, upstate NY) and once we got to a certain point the radio stations switched and every station was rock or classic rock, and i only really remember hearing like 1 rap song the whole time we were up there.

Bottom line, listen to these folk bro. The world is way bigger than your 'hood.'
This so true, it's kind of sad that these kids don't know there's another world out there.

I must add that you never hear country music here but leave NYC and there's a few stations playing it.

u wanna talk about a dying genre? r@b! We no longer have LSG, Keith Sweat, Johnny Gill, Boys 2 Men, Jodeci, New Edition, Blackstreet..I could go on and on..People who grew up in the 80s and 90s know what I am talking about. I don't even listen to the shit coming out now.

Where all assholes. If you listen to rock and pick on ghetto wiggers that is.

I am an Elvis impersonator, and I am getting a kick out of all these replies.... Thank you..... Thank very much.

Elvis has left the thread.

YouTube Video

most mainstream music is too "cool" to have anything this good these days. Ya gotta look for it. Nowadays, anything mainstream is just a catchy chorus played over and over from whoever actor/model is ready to go pop, and then back again.

i dont give a fuck. 99% of the people that listen to rock r bitches. 2 it sounds ike shit.
3 it takes no skill to make
4 if u ever go to the hood you wil realie there are milions o bootleg albums put out for rapper.s

lol, unlike rap music. Now that is true talent :roflmao:  :loser:

Fuck, the other day i heard samples from Slayer's Raining Blood in a commercial for detergent.

Damn. If you were to tell that to Tom Araya, Kerry King and Jeff Haneman back in 91, lol

u need to broaden your horizons Danny....rap isn't the only form of music
