Not only the enforcement agencies but the people in general. Since i'm in a pissed off, ranting mood i'll share a quick story.
About 5 or so years ago, my father's cousin came to visit us for a month (from Belarus). We took him around to see New York. He's a professor of over there so we took him to cultural spots, museums, restaurants and the usual touristy places. My father is a bilateral above the knee amputee (meaning he has no knee joint), but he gets around on prosthetics, drives a car with pulley's and shit set up to control the throttle and brake with his hands etc. Anyway, one day we decided to take the cousin to the statue of liberty. Got on that boat and made our way to the island. When we got to the island, the entrance had two long, separate lines going in. We got onto the line and waited like everyone else. When a security guard saw my father waiting in line, he rushed over, took my father (and us of course), walked us between the two lines into the statue. My father's cousin was astounded and thought we were in trouble. We explained to him thats how things are over here, we take care of people who need it. To this day, the cousin remembers that event (not even the statue, but us getting walked in).
The stories my father tells me about Belarus are ridiculous. People were knocking and bumping him while he was walking through the city, he almost fell plenty of times. Nowhere in the entire city did they have anything to accommodate the handicapped. Hell even a specialty handicap store was located on the second floor, with no working elevator and twisty steps. When my father called and asked for someone to come down and talk to him about a big purchase he wanted to make, the manager basically told him to go fuck himself. Its just crazy how different things are, and the spoiled ass bitches over here have no clue what its like anywhere else. They just want to whine how they are 'persecuted' or whatever over here because they caught a speeding ticket
