Wife and I are headed to the American Craft Beer Fest this Saturday with a couple of friends.

Brewers & Beers (ACBF)

I can't wait. My plan is to go for the expensive stuff first, so Allagash is #1 on the hit list. :)

Do you make your own beer or wine?

I started homebrewing this past December and am still very much a noob.

Had some Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold while in Cleveland on the weekend.... it was pretty good.

I don't care.... just thought I would share my beer experience. :D

How do they chose who will attend?

I don't know. Christ, am I the festival organizer or something?

Have you seen those commercials for the free Molson Canadian t-shirts in the 12 pack cases? I told my wife I'm going to get one of those shirts and wear it to the festival.

Fuck I thought you would know. Geez... do some research :D

There are always promotions for shirts or Hockey hats in Molson.

Not a big fan of Molson Canadian though.

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones
Speaking of free stuff, my wife always comes away from those beer festivals with free shirts and stuff. Chicks make out like bandits at those things. I'm lucky if I get a coaster.

Throw a dress on you could easily pass as a chick :p

Twice... once while brining up a year old thread...

Any stella fans around??

I like a nice cider, magners pear cider is immense

I felt neglected so I bumped up the good thread not IAB's gay thread :D

Yep preferably on tap. Bottle just isn't as good.

Magner's is good stuff. I have only tried Magner's and Strongbow. Strongbow licks balls.

A friend is on his second batch of homebrew, the first was awesome. Wish I could remember what it was right about now!

This thread grew fast while I was at lunch.

For you homebrewers do you have instruments that detect methanol?? It's very easy to make methanol when doing a home brew

Beer is for sissy boys who can't handle the full brunt of hard liquor......

its like members of this forum have completely different personalities in open chat than the other parts. It's always anti-alcohol and here we have an alcohol appreciation thread

I would probably end up going to these the most:

Bear Republic Racer 5

High and Mighty Two-Headed Beast

Southern Tier Unearthly

Stone Double Dry-hopped Ruination IPA

Boulder Beer Mojo Risin

One of the beers on that list that I think you will be pleasantly surprised with is the 21st Amendment Hell or High Watermelon Wheat Beer. I got a can of it for my girlfriend and was pretty surprised at how good it was, and I hate watermelon. I wanted half of it but she wasn't having any of that after she tried it.

BTW, what is with all of the Belgian-style Pale ales popping up this year? I had never had the style before now everyone and their mother makes one.

I made a batch of bourbon porter using Makers Mark. It's friggin amazing.

I am always pro-beer.

I see you like the hoppy stuff. The Oak Aged UnEarthly is awesome...if you can find it. I'm not a huge Southern Tier fan but they knocked it out of the park with that one. Stone makes some damn fine beers. They don't distribute in CT, but fortunately I work in MA and am five minutes from a huge beer store that sells them.

Those Belgians are definitely taking off lately, with more American craft beers taking their best shot at some of the styles. It's not just the pale ales, either. I've seen a lot of new quadruples. Those quads will kick your ass.

I had Ichor by Sly Fox the other day, pretty good Quad. I love hoppy beers, Southern Tier's Gemini is a pretty good one too. If you want to try a ridiculously good beer, try Southern Tier's Choklat, it tastes so good, like a Stout mixed with Chocolate milk. I have gone from drinking mostly Seasonal beers to more towards the hoppy stuff this past year. Troegs is a great brewer and they seem to be more toward the hoppy side so I try anything they put out. I am having a RiverHorse Summer Blonde right now that is pretty good, they had a Cherry Amber that was awesome but they are a local brewer so I doubt they get wide distribution. I really wanted to go to the ACBF this year, but I have too much shit going on, I am definitely in for next year. Just read the site, hope they don't stick to the 2oz level, the one in Philly usually pours 4-6oz.

I have a friend that is a brewer for Troegs. The last time I saw him he had all sorts of limited edition stuff to try. :) I love their Nugget Nectar but it's so damn hard to get your hands on.

This is my first time going to the ACBF. From what I understand, you get a 2oz glass for sampling.
