Pro Figure will now be attached to the IFBB New York Pro in May.

For years now Pro Figure has been attached to the NPC Team Universe Championships in July, now it is attached to the Pro Men's Bodybuilding & Women's Bikini in May.

IFBB New York Pro Women's Bodybuilding is no longer on the 2011 Calendar Of Events at this time.

FLEX Online posts the news about Pro Figure moving up to May, but nothing about the drop of Pro Women's Bodybuilding.............

IFBB NY PRO FIGURE ADDED TO THE NY PRO IN MAY - Flex Online

... and thus it begins...

Maybe with new Woman's Physique Division coming out, it is going to replace woman's bodybuilding. I am excited to see how the 1st WPD goes this coming May in SC. Should be interesting.

W/o getting into the politics of the federation, as far as "what is acceptable", though we have yet to see, my guess is WPD looks like the jacked figure girls of 2004-2005 when they decided even figure girls were getting too hard and started pushing for softer. WPD is *maybe* a viable alternative for some proportion of those who engage in FBB but not for the majority who have put in the years to develop lean quality mass. I really see this being more of an option for figure girls who have been in the game long enough to have developed some quality muscle (and OMG that is actually what happens when you spend more than a year "in the gym").

Let's just say it is extremely sad to see the implied demise of FBB. I dont' want to see the rest of women's physique competition reduced to TnA because it makes certain people 'uncomfortable' because an athlete has surpassed what is the mainstream definition of "fuckable". And if the discussion of steroids comes up as the argument against FBBs, then explain to me why a bikini girl needs to be on cycles? I guarantee you will see that become more & more the norm. And w/ WPD you'll see even more figure girls getting jacked up.

The sad truth about female athletes in general is that they are limited by the larger 'mainstream view' of what is fuckable. That aspect will never not be part of the equation in seeking equal ability to display athletic abiltiy and be judged by it.

Maybe after the 1st show they will. I guess depending on the success of the new division. I am curious to see how it turns out.

I have to say that I am with you on this point. I am really not a fan of the bikini division. I don't care how hot anyone thinks those girls are. Yes there are some beautiful women in that division but you can find a bikini competition at your local biker bar on any given Friday night. I still don't believe we need it in pro BB competitions. Also, it makes me wonder what Men's Physique is going to look like. I mean come on...dude's posing in fucking board shorts? I'm wondering if this will just be a stage for the "club guys" who don't train legs. Not trying to hijack the thread, I just don't like the direction the NPC/IFBB is going with these divisions. I may be alone on this one but I still find many of the figure girls highly fuckable and am extremely impressed with the level of dedication they put in to achieve their physiques.

Let's face it Bodybuilding is an extreme sport. The WBBers are as extreme as the MBBers. One of the big differences is that no matter how freaky big and muscular the men get they are still male albeit ultra-male. When we mix women with androgens there comes a fine line between retention of the essence of woman and crossing the barrier into some sort of male female hybrid. Pushing that line has taken on it's own life. When some of these women pose for nudes the genitalia bring this dilemma into full frontal view. Recently there was a thread, still active as far as I know, of nude female BBers. One exposed her morphed genitalia. Without question the clitoris had extended into a phalanx and the labia had begun to change toward semblance of a testes sack. The woman had multiple piercings and had adorn them with jewels. Undoubtedly, she was quite aware of the androgen's assault on her femininity. This kind of transformation should be disturbing. It is not the kind of thing that is good for a sport or the marketing thereof. I feel the governing bodies are attempting to address such problems.

Lee Thompson, NPC official, IFBB judge, and new co-host of Pro Bodybuilding Weekly with Dan Solomon stated Men's Physique will be a chest and arms show, period.

Board shorts? GTFO!

Bikini and Men's Physique is all about the lowest common denominator and the dollar signs attached to that segment of the population.

I wish the Women's Physique division success, however not at the expense of female bodybuilders. One division should not spell the doom of the other. If the IFBB chooses to end competition in the FBB division then I certainly hope those athletes find another avenue for competition and/or physique display.

its business and money, woman's bb'ing gets no support.

W/ all due respect, why don't they drop the Masters categories & Teen categories then? Those participants are usually more sparse than the FBBs.

Great observation. And an argument I hadn't thought to throw at chick. He was constantly harping on ROI, ROI, ROI, but what's the return on investment for Masters and Teens?
