Ok well ive heard alot of mixed things about cycleing creatine? cycle or do it year around. Ive heard from many to take it year around. how many grams a day should i take?

Your not supposed to take more than 5g a day. So I take a full 5 grams on off days and 2.5g (I just eyeball it) an hour before every workout and 2.5 mixed with my protein post workout. As far as cycling goes I just took the last week of a 10 week training cycle off creatine. Hope this helps

I've taken 20g a day, everyday for years. Where did the 5g a day and cycle advice cone from? It's what works for you, not a lab rat. Don't overcomplicate this shit fellas.

I was told to take 20g a day for the first week then take only 10g a day after that. I was thinking of doing it your way anabolic. just go 20g all the time. By the way ill be using optimum micronized creatine

Creatine is cheap, why not use it. Not that it's the only way, but it's what works for me. But if 5g a day works, take 5g a day. To each their own. Be your own lab rat.

Creatine does NOT need to be cycled and 5g a day is worthless. A guy your size should be taking 5-10 before workouts and 5-10 after workouts. Creatine is the #1 researched bodybuilding supplement. No studies have found that it is harmful to your body in any way. Whatever your body does not absorb, you just pass it through urine.

I think 5 grams a day only applies to people that weighs around 150 lbs. It just makes sense that a guy that weighs 225 lbs would need more than 5 grams.

lol that would pretty much be me. Taking body weight in to consideration then yea 10g a day makes more sense.

I can't seem to find the research to back this up (damn) but I recall reading that even 2-3g per day is sufficient to maintain on for even a large individual once one saturates their 'stores'. One can saturate via a larger dosage up front or wait for the "maintenance dose" to accumulate over the course of a bit of time (a week-ish?).

With that said, in practice, creatine is so cheap that if one wants to take 5g or 10g each day, it wouldn't be a big deal. There will be certainly no harmful physiological effects.

Throwing a roughly measured teaspoon into a glass of warm water, letting it dissolve fully, and then drinking it down at any part of the day is reasonably sound protocol.
