I want to feel like I accomplish something everyday with challenges and get paid well. I don't want to be beat up from my job either. I am not saying this to sound cocky. If I had to I would flip burgers to support my self. The way I look at it is I have one life to live and I can accomplish anything I want as long as I put my mind to it.

LOL sales the money would be nice I was thinking pharma sales honestly as well. Problem is I want job security and longevity. Ahhhhhhh hate this thanks for the support everyone.!!!
For pharma/medical sales you'll need a degree. Since your in the Bay Area you have probably heard of McKesson. Here in GA McKesson will hire you out of college for $40k+ starting off doing inside phone sales. Assuming you become shit hot at that, you can transition your way into outside sales but you have to continue to be shit hot or your gone. Lets say I know someone who does payroll at McKesson....I can tell you there are many outside sales people with $80-100k base AND get 8,000-10,000-12,000/mo commission. Obviously they are very good at what they do and are producing.
Another field where there is big money that you can start out on the ground floor and work your way up is commercial insurance. You basically start out as a broker's assistant for $30-40/year and usually get a bonus at the end of the year from your broker. These bonuses can be a few grand from a jew, to a guy I know who got $80K and his broker paid his taxes. I know brokers who make $125K base with $450K bonuses (they have to produce obviously) and I know of one top broker who got a $750K bonus last year. As you work and succeed as broker's assistant, you either get tapped to become a broker yourself within the company or your find a job as a broker. Worst case you stay broker's assistant forever under a successful broker and you still make really good money.
I do agree with the others....get a marketable 4 year degree and/or learn a skilled trade like electrician/HVAC/plumbing. Medical and IT is the future IMO and Medical IT would be the cat's ass as far as stability goes.
I'm not sure why you former MIL guys are flocking to University of Phoenix (I know a bunch here that are there now) but being a private college your GI Bill dollar doesn't go very far when compared to a state school. To maximize your GI Bill, consider a legit 2 year community college that offers an easy transfer of credits to a state college for your last two years. Doing that, you should have money left over at the end of four years to put the GI Bill toward some fun education.
Another thing....if you don't have to work while going to school, consider an accelerated bachelors program where you go to school 40hrs a week and knock out a degree fast. State colleges offer this just like the University of Phoenix does.

Go to a business school and learn Lean production, kaizen and everything that goes with it. Do the six sigma thing, too. Be a lean consultant. It truly is the way of the future.
Kind of stuck. Got out of the military a little bit ago and don't know what to do. I was a mechanic for several years before I joined but do not want to fall back into that. It beats you up the money is not that good and when I am 50 I don't want to be doing it or managing a shop. I love and since I was a kid it was a dream to operate heavy equipment but with layoffs and other issues it does not seem to promising. I have looked into pharmaceutical sales like being a rep, Biomedical equipment tech...Fixing Mri and x-ray machines and or U.s marshal. Other jobs would be some type of saftey person for a plant or railroad company would be cool too. I am 25 and have a full GI bill I could use to get an education. Or if I get into the union I could use my GI bill as income since it is training. I want to make a good living with out beating my self up.
but you dont..you collecting unemployment..no wonder the country is fucked up
I take care of sick people in a hospital. Currently working toward a baccalaureate in nursing, once that's done I'm on to become a CRNA.
Dont be ashamed to collect unemployment. That is what it is for to help people that are in need. Its the lazy people that take advantage of it. As long as your working to some thing better focus on what is going to benefit your self. Go to school use your GI-bill and pass all your classes. Collect unemployment while you go to school and use your veterans benefits. If any one deserves unemployment its veterans.
+1
but you dont..you collecting unemployment..no wonder the country is fucked up
Were you active duty at all?? Or deployed
I know what you mean with the six sigma crap, I had to take all of the classes for it than had to help teach it to all military on my post and civilian's that worked on post
I'm not sure why they are hating about unemployment. I could see if you were on welfare and food stamps sitting at home on your ass playing video games but not unemployment.
I think I am going to go to school for bio medical equipment tech. X ray tech and radiation therapy does not look to bad either.
The only thing you need to be aware of (if you don't already) with any skilled medical program/degree is usually you have to compete to get into said medical program, meaning you need to have a good GPA so take every class serious. Good luck and thanks for serving.
BP if I get the job, do you think I could steal my money back?I heard Lucky 7 is hiring an internet sales rep.![]()
