Yeah I'm ACE certified. What's up

I'm an exercise physiologist thru acsm. If you're going to get certified go to acsm or nsca. Ace is not very well respected compared to these.
I am a fitness director for 2 gyms and manage a team of 8 personal trainers.

I'm looking to see what I need to know for the test.

I am an EMT and a gym rat so I have a very good knowledge of how and why the body works.

I have heard people say "if you passed the 3rd grade you can pass the personal trainer exam".

Should be similar, acsm and nsca are probably a bit tougher though.
Usually they give you a breakdown of the test questions and the topics covered.

I mean I as well as all other certified personal trainers would hope its not as easy as passing the third grade...

My ACE test specifically as I remember it was more focused on posture (multiple kyphosis questions) also diabetes (multiple insulin questions) and obviously a general understanding of the body/exercises/kinesiology/flexibility

Nasm is a good one too

I don't know about right now, but NASM use to be REALLY easy to pass. When I took it, it was all online a group of us guys all got together at the school library (did it senior year in 2002) and got our certs. If I was going to make an actual career out of it though I would get your cert from any where to get your foot in the door to start training. It honestly doesn't matter what cert you get to begin with. Most places are going to only hire you as a low level trainer until you build your clients up and experience.

Then work on additional certs and go to college. Get an exercise science degree or physiology that way you can now work at the college level and train college athletes as well. Then work on your physical therapy requirements. That is were the garentee money is. Training is tough to make money, it takes allot of time and very few are extremely successful at it. You really have to be a peoples person and motivational. I was decent at training but never great. I would have months making 3k part time and have months struggling to sale.

Its a blast though and tons of fun... good luck

I've always been interested in going into personal training while I go to school, but I would get so frustrated training fat lazy people. You have to understand that you will practically never get to train anyone with a decent physique.

You don't work out. KOS says so :coffee:

I guess if you call lifting weights with no cardio "working out," then he's correct. I just went to school to get fancy degrees and certifications so I could brag about them on bbing forums.

I talked to the head trainer at my gym today and he suggested I go get NASM certified for $600-$800. lolz.

ACSM is cheaper and they are the organization that writes the guidelines that every other organization follows. American College of Sports Medicine.

My next rotation this semester at school is with the Physiology department. I was planning to follow the pharmacology track, but depending how this rotation goes, I might go for a graduate degree in physiology instead. I have until the end of the school year to decide.

making drugs vs. getting jacked. hmmmm.

After getting a masters degree in ex physiology, I wish I would have pursued physical therapy or another medical field because of the lack of careers in ex physiology.
I'm currently on a wait list to become an RN because of the lack of choices for me.
