    low carb diet/metabolism/carb cycling

I should also add that i went to see the Dr. a couple months ago and everything was fine: test, thyroid, etc.

    low carb diet/metabolism/carb cycling

well, i was doing alot of crossfit type workouts. Super high intensity, poor programming, not enough recovery lead to too much stress on my body. My understanding is that that type of stress (overtraining) will increase cortisol levels. Low blood sugar apparently may also call upon cortisol...

    low carb diet/metabolism/carb cycling

Well, I've bumped it up a bit. I was dealing with adrenal fatigue for a few months there and seem to be out of the woods w/that now, so my activity level is back to normal. My naturopath indicated that the real low carb diet probably contributed to the A.F. and that when carbs are that low...

    low carb diet/metabolism/carb cycling

I'm 32. No, no significant changes to my diet. I read somewhere (can't find it now) that when carbs are low, glucagon is released and that prolonged release of glucagon can cause the metabolism to slow. That would make sense I guess, but I always thought the same as you said, that cals, not...

    low carb diet/metabolism/carb cycling

Daily cals were probably 2300/day. Cheat meal probably brought my cals for that particular day into the low 4000s, so avg daily intake was probably like 2500-2700. Bw is 184, bf was 10% last time I had it done.

    low carb diet/metabolism/carb cycling

Hi, So I have read a few places that a prolonged low carb diet (without a proper refeed) can drastically lower metabolism. I am wondering if implementing carb cycling would help get the metabolism back to normal. I know no one can forcast how long this may take, but I am also wondering if...

    Low Cortisol

My understanding is no way. Its too much stress on the body which is what put you in that position to begin with. In fact, the first thing they tell u to do is drop all workouts to let your adrenal glands heal. Usually for a month, then to add some strength work, then lastly cardio. The...

    Low Cortisol

Hahaha satan is stoking the coals Built (j/k). I have two naturopaths that I'll be working with once I get my results back from my second test. A few guys I know worked w/one of them w/great results.

    Low Cortisol

Not sure if this is the place to put this thread, but I'll try it anyway. I just got a call from the lab and I have abnormally low cortisol levels (I believe it's also called adrenal fatigue). Anyone here have any experience w/this or how best to handle it?

    Diet/Fat loss

Sassy, do you think this carb cycling approach would work well for someone who's been basically running on low carbs (<50/day) for a long time (months)? I think I am going to give this a try. It always worked well for me in the past, but then again I was coming off a diet that was 50-60% carb...

    Diet/Fat loss

You know what's funny is that I was pretty much running a keto until a week ago. Was on about 160 g protein and 150 g fat. So would you suggest that I drop my protein some or up my fats and cals? I don't really like to do carbs because I don't like to eat grains. If I did want to add in carbs...

    Diet/Fat loss

yeah, I do like the late nite salads. They are nice. Do you guys all think that lower carbs is the best or at least fastest route for fat loss?

    Diet/Fat loss

Hi, I'm going to try to keep this as short as I can, but it will probably get long no doubt. So I've been trying to cut up a bit for summer. 32 yrs old, 5'11, currently 185 lbs and 10% bf last time i had it taken. Last summer I got down to 6% bf and really liked the way i looked and felt...

    Refeeds and Leptin

I pretty much eat broccoli, avocados, coconut oil, shredded coconut, steak, grass fed ground beef, chicken, asparagus, spinach, eggs and organic sausage/bacon. I don't do dairy or protein shakes which saves me a few grams. I pretty much have a piece of meat, 3 or 4 cups of broccoli and fill...

    Refeeds and Leptin

I've been on a low carb diet (under 50 g/day) for a few months now. I just find that I prefer the meats, vegetables and nuts to anything else. I'm at 8% bf and trying to lean down, but have been stuck lately. I usually have a cheat meal once/week but I don't really put an emphasis on hitting...
